I was in excruciating pain. The only time I had worse was when I first shifted. I was on the verge of unconsciousness and my ankle had now swollen into a big bump of purple. Without my wolf, I was weakened and suffering. I couldn't go any further and my body responded by collapsing and I finally closed my eyes.

I opened my eyes to see a family. They looked so happy, their brown-haired daughter playing on the swings as her father pushed her. Her mother stood close, a camera in her hand with memories saved in it. They were all smiling and the bubbly little daughter laughed with happiness shining in her eyes. Then, it disappeared and darkness surrounded me.

Not a minute passed when something appeared in front of me. The same girl, maybe grown a few years, was holding her father's hand as they walked through the forest together. She was in awe as she looked around. Soon, they reached a familiar place. A large cave that looked inviting and ever so comforting. Time fast forwarded and I saw the pair leaving the forest. Suddenly, rogue wolves surrounded them. The father immediately pushed the girl behind him, protecting her. There were too many. By the time help came, the father's body lay ripped open on the ground as he whispered some last words. The daughter sat on the ground next to her father, balling her eyes out and screaming in pain. It was too late. Her father had passed on. Then, everything froze and the picture in front of me disappeared.

Another scenery played in front of me. The girl looked like she was in her teen years. She was standing in a living room with tears running down her face. Her mother stood in front of her, screaming profanities at her, her face red in anger. It seemed to be in slow-motion as the mother raised her hand and slapped her daughter's face. The girl's face snapped to the side as her jaw hung in shock. Without a word, the mother left the room without even looking at her daughter.

The next picture was the same girl who seemed to be at the age of 16. She was standing in a hallway at the local high school. A crowd had gathered around her, another blonde girl in front of her. She sneered at her victim, lifting her hand and punching her in the stomach. The brunette stood her ground, wincing in pain for a second before returning back to her emotionless face. Not a guilty face was in the crowd, only ones filled with hate and disgust.

Now, it was at a party. She stood there, at the age of 17, glancing around the room. A boy stood on the stage as he received birthday wishes. Both their eyes met, sparks erupting as they looked at each other in shock. The girl was frozen when the boy looked at her in disgust, before grabbing the extremely clingy blonde and kissing her. He looked up again with a smirk. The girl stood tall, no emotions showed as she mirrored his expression. Without a word, she walked out, the boy following her.

The girl was now a wolf. She stood in front of a large, black wolf, copying his every movement. He lunged, aiming at her neck, no pity in his eyes. She eyed him, determination shining in her eyes as she gracefully dodged his attack. Then she went into offense mode, going for his neck. She bit down, waiting. He lowered his head in submission as she finally let go and walked away.

It was dark now. Nothing else could be seen. Something erupted inside her. Darkness filled her soul as evil took over. Light filled the space and she was standing in a field. Bodies lay around her, all dead or brutally injured. She ignored any pleas of help walking with her head up until she spotted a certain somebody. Everything froze, light shining once again as the darkness escaped her soul.

I stared at myself. I was the girl and this was my life.

I sat up panting hard as I remembered the strange dream.

Did I just see my life story?

I winced when I felt pain throughout my body. Reluctantly, I stood up and raised my head to look forward. The sun was rising and I could finally see the end of the highway. I gathered the strength I had inside and trudged to the big sign that stood tall.
