Caroline POV
"We're going shopping," was the first thing I heard from Jace.
I scrunched up my nose and had a sour look on my face. Andrew, who was sitting next to me while watching a movie, noticed this and chuckled amusedly. He knew my hatred of shopping but Jace looked at me with confusion.
"She hates shopping," Andrew told him, clearing Jace's doubts.
I groaned in frustration. Shopping was the last thing I wanted to do on a Saturday morning. Jace walked over to where I was sitting and held out his hand. I pouted, begging him silently to not go shopping. Jace just shook his head at me sternly and wiggled his hand. Sighing in defeat, I grabbed his hand and pulled myself up.
"Ok, where are we going?" I asked dryly.
"The city," Jace replied, grabbing his keys.
Hearing his answer, Andrew and I tensed. The city was the last place I wanted to go with Andrew. It was the place where we first met and the place where we spent every single minute together. I couldn't meet Andrew's eyes and we stayed silent until Andrew coughed slightly.
"I'll wait in the car," he muttered quietly and slipped out of the door.
Jace, Dylan and Josh stared at Andrew in confusion and then diverted their eyes to me. I squirmed under their gaze before straightening my back and plastering a fake smile on my face.
"Well, let's go," I said, trying to sound enthusiastic.
The three of them looked at me suspiciously but didn't question me. I sighed in relief when they turned and made their way to the garage, getting into Jace's car. Jace sat in the driver's seat and I buckled myself into the passenger's seat. I looked into the backseat and my mood dampened when I saw Andrew looking out of the window. Sensing my gaze, he turned his head towards my direction and I gave him a small smile. His lips tugged up into a sad smile and turned away again. My mood lifted when I saw Dylan and Josh struggling to get inside the car.
"I get the side!"
"No, I get the side. You get the middle!"
"No I get the side!"
"Piss off!"
"Hell no! Move you blood sucking leech!"
"Sucks to be a mutt, doesn't it!"
Watching the fight amused me but as time went by and they hadn't settled yet, Jace and I grew annoyed.
"Andrew? Can you sit in the middle, please?" I asked politely.
Andrew nodded silently and scooted over to the middle and put his seatbelt on.
"You two. Get into the car," I said sternly giving them a silent glare.
Without a word, they both got in and we finally set off to the city. I looked out of the window, the familiar surroundings starting to pain my heart. I looked at Andrew and I saw him with tightly closed eyes as his lips were pursed. The car was eerily silent as we finally parked in front of the city mall. Stepping out, I looked around, taking in the familiar sights. My eyes settled on the large pond by the park. Glancing at Andrew, I could see his eyes strained at the same sight. Shaking my head and getting rid of my depressing thoughts, I turned towards the other three.
"Wait! I want to see the pond!" Josh exclaimed, running towards it like a little child.
Again, Andrew and I tensed at what Josh said. But without a word, we followed them to the park. Josh had run to look over the railing and Jace and Dylan had reached beside him, looking at the pond as well. I took a deep breath when I saw the bench behind them. I stepped as far as Andrew as possible and Andrew furthered the distance by stepping away as well.
