Nagi No Asukara: A Twist in Fate

Chapter 1: Hikari wakes up

Five years has past, Shioshishio is frozen. Everyone is still asleep except Manaka. Manaka woke up earlier than the rest and she is now 19. During her time on land, she had no where else to stay but Tsumugu's house and during those years she has forgotten her feelings for Hikari and has moved onto Tsumugu. They have been together for those years and are planning to get married soon to live a peaceful and happy life in America.

Manaka hasn't forgotten that her friends were hibernating, she wanted to be happy and live her life instead of waiting for her friends to come out of the ocean. She told Miuna to tell everyone once they have awaken that she is happy with Tsumugu in America. The day after Manaka left for America was when Hikari woke up.

Miuna was the first to see Hikari on a glacier above the ocean. She called out his name and all he kept saying was "where's Manaka!?!" Miuna wanted to tell him about Manaka but she couldn't, not yet. Hikari would be heartbroken once he found out. If Hikari knows the truth now maybe Miuna could make him feel better and comfort him. "M-M-Manaka...has woken up before you, she woke up a month after the hibernation." Miuna had to say it, he could hate her if Miuna wasn't honest. "Where is Manaka now" was Hikari's response. "She's with Tsumugu now, her life is perfect, her and Tsumugu love each other and are living in America and she said that she will visit one day." Miuna told Hikari and the look on his face was depressing, Miuna hugged Hikari as he cried on her shoulders shouting for Manaka. She was happy Manaka left, she knew once she left she got to be the one for Hikari but now all she wants is Hikari to be happy.

Miuna brought Hikari back home. (Miuna is Hikari's sisters step daughter so they aren't really related) Akari (Hikari's sister) welcomed Hikari and gave him a hug. Unfortunately there wasn't anymore rooms left for Hikari to sleep in, there were only 3 rooms which was for Akari and her husband, their youngest child with the smallest room and Miuna's room. Miuna's room had enough space for Hikari so until Hikari can return to his dad he would have to share a room with Miuna. "Ehhhhh but mommy why can't Hikari just sleep in the kitchen!" said Miuna. "Miuna, Hikari won't be comfortable sleeping on the floor it's better for him to be comfortable, after all he is my brother, so please Miuna let him share a room with you," said Akari. "Okay mommy, he already has gone to sleep anyways," said Miuna.

As Miuna was getting ready to go to bed she realized she would be sleeping with a guy that she likes and that is now the same age as her (before the time skip Miuna was 9 years old and Hikari was 14, since Hikari hibernated he hasn't aged so now him and Miuna are 14 years old) she knew she shouldn't be thinking about this now because of all the things Hikari is going through. Miuna needs to just be there comforting him.

Miuna saw that her mom didn't lay a blanket on the floor with a pillow for Hikari to sleep on, instead he slept on Miuna's bed. Miuna was scared and tired and just wanted to sleep but then she would have to sleep next to Hikari. As Miuna got onto the bed Hikari moved positions, instead of facing towards the door he faced Miuna. Miuna turned bright red, being in the same bed together made her feel uncomfortable so she thought sleeping on the floor would be best.

The next day Hikari saw Miuna laying on the floor instead of on the bed. "Oh yeah, this is Miuna's bed, I should have slept on the floor and let Miuna sleep on her bed," whispered Hikari as he gently caressed her hair placing a blanket on top of her. Once Miuna woke up she saw Hikari already awake and noticed that the blanket Hikari used was on her. She hugged the blanket while smelling and remembering his scent when she hugged Hikari when she was young.

Miuna walked into the kitchen. "Good morning everybody," said Miuna. "Good Morning Miuna, hurry up and get ready school is about to start," said Akari. "Oh yeah we have school today, Hikari you should be getting ready as well," said Miuna. "Yeah yeah I know," answered Hikari.

Miuna and Hikari started walking to school. "Hey Miuna, how old is Manaka now?" Hikari asked. "19 and she wanted to get married early because her and Tsumugu have their lives already figured out," Miuna answered. "Oh I see, I guess this is the time where I give up on her. They say if you truly love someone it's okay to let go because as long as they're happy you should be happy as well," Hikari said. Miuna couldn't answer, she thought that if Hikari finally gave up then she can have him, but now she didn't want to be selfish. "It will be hard to stop loving a person you have loved for years, if you ever need someone to talk to I will always be here for you Hikari," said Miuna. "Thank you Miuna, I can't believe we're now the same age!" said Hikari "I know! It feels like I'm still 9 though," Miuna said. Hikari looked into her eyes and somehow the world paused. "Miuna is a wonderful girl, she is different from Manaka. Miuna will always be there for me and I want to be there for her as well," Hikari said in his head. "What's wrong Hikari?" "Oh it's nothing, I was thinking since we are the same age I could start to develop feelings for you."
