"Dammit!" Leon banged his fist against the cold metal bar of the cage, filled with frustration. It was a constant game of cat and mouse, with Ashley always managing to slip through their fingers. He sighed and turned to Jasper, "C'mon, let's get out of here."
Jasper nodded before he inserted the key into the lock and turned it. The door swung open, allowing them to exit the cage. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a static-filled cacophony filled Leon's ears. Startled, he reached for his earpieces, answering the call. "Leon. Changed your mind yet?" An alluring and familiar voice crackled through the earpiece.
"Ada?" Leon questioned, his voice filled with disbelief, causing Jasper to glance at Leon with a puzzled look.
"Assuming you haven't, I've got a tip for you guys. Seems like something big is about to go down in the throne room," Ada informed him. "Babysitting's tough, huh." The call abruptly disconnects after that.
"Hey! Ada? Ada!" Leon called out, trying to get Ada's attention, but received no response back. He lets out a sigh of irritation. "... Perfect."
"What did she say?" Jasper inquired.
"She said that they're taking Ashley to the throne room," Leon informed. "We should hurry. Who knows what they might do to her."
The two agents head over to the room Ashley had fled through, revealing a door to the right and a double door to the left. Leon and Jasper pushed the double doors on the left and they were met with a hallway, noticing another door at the end of the hallway. They walked across the hallway and attempted to push the door open, but it wouldn't budge.
One the left side of the hallway was a balcony with a spiral of stairs leading up to a door. The two agents vaulted over the railing and walked up the stairs and made it to the door at the end of the staircase. They entered a storage room and they continued on with their journey since they didn't find anything of use inside the crates and boxes in the room.
As they opened the door, they entered a ginormous ballroom with strange architecture. The room was in shambles, with debris, rubble, and broken columns scattered around the room in every direction. The marble floors of the ballroom had giant gaps, as if something had dug its way out of the ground. The hairs on the back of Jasper's neck stood up, and he couldn't help but feel an unsettling sensation wash over him. He turned to Leon and said, "Watch your six."
Leon noticed the sense of unease Jasper was feeling and nodded, clutching his pistol tightly in his hand, ready to fire at any threats that lurk within the corners of the ballroom. As the two agents make their down the stairs, they tensed up as they heard a chirping of insects in the distance. "The hell?" Jasper muttered, cocking his pistol, Leon following suit. They trained their guns in every corner, ready to defend themselves.
Suddenly, a group of creatures emerged into sight, just over the banister. Leon and Jasper looked up to see a swarm of large mutated insects, letting out a low hiss at the two agents. "Oh, you gotta be fucking kidding me," Jasper muttered, his voice laced with dread.
