"Well, aren't you two just a sight for sore eyes?" Luis remarked with a wide and playful grin as the two agents stepped out of the elevator.
Leon scoffed. "Gee, thanks." He reached out, accepting the box and gave Luis a cautious nod. With a wink, Luis equips himself with his lighter, flickering it between his fingers in a fluent motion.
Leon and Jasper stared at the white container, a mix of anticipation and doubt warring within them. As Leon popped the lid open, there were three vials stored inside the container. "So these are the suppressants for our little problem?" Jasper inquired.
"Yes. It will knock out the parasite, but only for a while," Luis confirmed. Jasper and Leon glanced at each other with uncertainty in their eyes, but with the situation they're currently in, they had to trust Luis.
Leon and Jasper settled onto a worn-out crate and each of them picked up a syringe from the container. Jasper examined the syringe that contained a pristine and clear substance inside the barrel, moving fluidly as it turned in his hands. Jasper glanced at Leon and looked down at the syringe once again. Ultimately, he steadied his hand, positioning the needle at his necks in a perfect angle.
Jasper took a deep breath before he punctured the needle into his neck, his breaths grew shallow. A wave of relief washed over him as the liquid coursed through his veins. He gently took the needle out of his neck and glanced at the obsidian veins coiled around his arms. Slowly but surely, the veins began to vanish and his skin returned to normal.
When Leon took the suppressant, the obsidian veins wrapped around his arms began to fade as well, leaving only his smooth skin. The two agents marveled at the sight of the suppressant's effects. Although it was only temporary, they felt an overwhelming wave of relief, their previous burdens of the parasite lifted for a fleeting moment.
"Feeling better?" Luis asked the two agents, his lighter making a soft clicking sound as he flipped it open and closed.
Leon nodded. "Yeah. Seems like it worked," he answered.
"Bad news?" Luis began. "All we've done is buy you some time. The suppression effect's will wear off all too soon." Jasper reached for the last suppressant in the container and analyzed it for a moment. Luis spoke up, "You ready to go?"
"Don't worry about us. Ashley is the priority," Leon responded.
Jasper nodded in agreement as he pocketed the suppressant in one of his belt pockets and spoke, "We should hurry."
"In that case, we know what we have to do," Luis declared. He took a bold step forward, emanating confidence as he picked up a metal pipe that was propped against the wall. In a spontaneous act, the Spaniard then exclaimed with optimism; "Then come, mi amigos. Let us rescue the Princess Dulcinea!"
Jasper and Leon, however, looked at Luis unamused. They stood up from the crate and Leon snatched the metal pipe from Luis. "You're gonna hurt yourself!" He declared sternly as he discarded the pipe.
