Matthew stopped the thunderstorm, Ethan absorbed the fire, and Antonio teleported in to get everyone out of the collapsing house. They saved a mother, a father, and two daughters. Once Antonio let them off on the sidewalk, the mother took out her cellphone and dialed 911. Matthew asked, "Why is she calling 911? We just saved them. They're safe now."
Antonio replied, "They're calling the cops to arrest us."
"Why? They would be dead without us!"
"That's not how they see it."
"What's so bad about us?"
"They think we're gangsters that have obnoxiously huge weapons on some extreme drugs."
"They believe that?"
"Apparently, they do."
"That's stupid."
"People will believe anything that's either online or on TV."
"What type of idiot would believe a bogus cover up like that?"
"Maybe people just accept the explanations for things that they can't explain themselves."
Just then, the thunderstorm started again and it began to poor. They could hear the cops racing down streets to get to them. Matthew said, "They won't get to us for another 5 minutes or so."
Ethan asked, "Why? They sound pretty close."
"They're gonna run into a bit of an accident involving a Hummer that was turned into a yellow ball of scrap with a fried idiot inside."
"Right. I forgot about that."
Antonio said, "They dispatched so many cops, if we walked into their precinct, we'd be fine."
Matthew replied, "I think that was enough for one day. I just got here, and I ran from cops, got cornered by you guys, got hit by a Hummer, brought the driver back to life, killed him again, and stopped a thunderstorm. Now, you expect me to be dumb enough to walk into a police precinct? I'm done for the day! I'm gonna go home and see my family."
"I highly doubt that's going to happen."
