Surprised, you look down at the small figure that had teary eyes and was begging to be saved. You frown as you crouch down gently patting her small head with a warm smile.

"Sweetheart... I don't know where your mommy is but do you know where you came from?"

The girl seemed to be scared probably overwhelmed because she lost her mother. You wipe the falling tears from her cheek as you soothe her. Poor girl just sniffs softly as she points at the other end of the alley. It looked drier and seemed empty, she must have thought the pool of people was where her mother would be.

"Have a candy love," Smiling you pulled out a small candy in your pocket.
It was a small gesture you had, candy in your bag in case you got nervous, you would just pop it in. Or sometimes offering young ones like this to soothe them, it was just heartwarming to see those smile because of it.

Though the girl hesitated, she gently took the candy and put it in her tiny jacket pocket. Not a crack of smile was shown but that's fine, probably a stranger giving her candy is a no-no thing.
"We'll go back then let's see if we can find your mommy ok?" You offered her hand to link with yours and she gently tugged on your fingers as both of you moved to the other side.

The echoes of your heels touching the unstable ground make you wince. The sky was golden, its beauty telling the world it was time to end the rough crowds and buzzing streets. The smell of garbage is making you gag every time you step to the end. At best, you try to keep composed in front of the girl. Any danger then you're going to throw hands if needed.

At the end of the street, you look around a bit, a dry street despite being so close to the main street. Sketchy and... unsafe for such a young one to be going around. You look down to question the girl.

"Sweetheart? Do you know where you live or where you last met your mommy?" The girl hums for a second before speaking lowly. "Me and Mommy don't live here. Big brother told me she went to the alley but I saw you so I thought you were mommy." She explained making you crouched down to comfort her sad face.

"Big brother? Do you know where he is too? Maybe staying with him would be safe" She hesitated but eventually nodded. "He told me where mommy is before going in there," She said as she pointed at a rusty arcade with a sign barely lit. Interesting. Who would do such a thing?

"Eri-chan" A raspy voice from behind startled you a bit. Looking back to see a burnt..and stitched man with black hair with white roots. He wore a casual long black coat with a white turtle neck under. The girl however let your hand go before going over to the scary-looking man.

"Big brother! Where's mommy?" The man smiled crouching down before picking her up. Looking at you with intense turquoise eyes for a few seconds before smiling as he steps closer. "I'm so sorry for my sister, I thought her mom was in the alley when I first saw her. Turns out, she was in the wrong block to even begin with" He laughs as he holds the girl gently. Well, the girl doesn't seem to be scared at all.. maybe it's okay to leave with him... though something was nagging you.

Have I seen those eyes before?

"Oh not at all, it's best if she's safe" I smile at the girl as she just looks away shyly. He thanked you quickly turning around. However, she whispers into the man's ear which you manage to catch.
"would scary brother hurt me?" That caught your attention but the man turned away as soon as the girl spoke.

"No, Eri-chan. Let us head back okay?"

You hesitated before heading back into the alley to try and get back to your friends. Something did not sit right with you. Either the girl's words about finding her mother or those cobalt-blue eyes piercing into you with a sense of familiarity. Whatever it may be, you wanted to know.
