Chapter 4 the quidditch trials

It wasn't until next week that the moment James had been waiting for since he joined Hogwarts final came. Quidditch trials. He'd signed him, Sirius and Remus up for trials the minute he'd seen the sheet in the corridor on the first day back; Sirius was thrilled but Remus was less enthusiastic. Initially he said no but James and Sirius wouldn't leave him be until he finally agreed to tag along. All of his friends had to suffer James going on and on about the trials for the entire week leading up to them until eventually one of them snapped and told him to "shut up or I'll throw a bluger in your face before you can so much as see a changing room door". James would then shut up.
When the last lesson on Friday afternoon finally ceased he sprinted down the hallway Sirius in pursuit and Remus trailing behind a little reluctantly. James ran into a long line of different boys waiting at the changing room door all from different houses. Sirius immediately spotted his brother.
"Regulus?" Sirius said walking up to his brother
"What?"
"Nothing just, didn't expect you to come and watch-"
"Watch? I'm not here to watch I'm here to try out"
"Yeah, nice one" at that moment Reggie kicked Sirius in the shins "oh crap, your serious"
"You think" Reggie commented
"Okay well, good luck" Sirius said walking back toward James and Remus. James was already in his own conversation with Lilly and Marlene.
"Well yeah the teams gonna be great with all these new guys, should make it stronger" James said
"So do you reckon you'll get it?" Marlene asked
"Guess you'll have to watch and see"
"How? I can't spin my head a full three sixty Potter"
"What do you mean? You can see perfectly fine from the stands?"
"The stands! We're trying out you twat" Lilly exclaimed
"Oh that the best joke I've heard all day" James laughed, the girls both raised an eyebrow "oh your being genuine, right yeah, yeah good luck" James said trying to play along. Marlene and Lilly went to talk to Remus who was standing awkwardly in a corner but before they could open their mouths  Madame Hooch came down the corridor.
"Right! Hello everyone welcome to Quidditch trials, there are three places  on the Hufflepuff team, four on the Ravenclaw and Slytherin teams and six on the Gryffindor team. Now change and be out on the pitch in ten minutes sharp" Madame hooch finished before unlocking the door with a click of her fingers and walking out of sight. After that the tidal wave of boys and the line of girls walking in all entered the changing rooms.
Ten minutes later James, Sirius and Remus all stood side by side on the pitch with  about twenty other Gryffindor's. Sirius looked over to Regulus and Dorcas who were stood alongside one another, he smiled at them but only Dorcas smiled back Reggie must have been pissed at him again or perhaps just focused.
After a couple of minutes the four captains came onto the pitch and looked onto there future teammates. A blonde haired girl walked over to the Gryffindor team, she wore the team outfit covered in faded mud stains she had been vigorously scrubbing off the night before. Her hair was tied back in a slick ponytail that was almost inhumane because not a single hair was stray and her skin was pale but also spotty, her piercing hazel eyes swept over the students before her.
"Right! I'm Emily Hawthorne team captain and 7th year student. Okay shall we get a game going?" All the fifth years nodded anxiously "okay, Alredred! Yours ready?" Hawthorne shouted across the pitch
"Yeah" the pasty looking boy who must have been the infamous Alredred Treach shouted back.
"Good" Hawthorne yelled before she turned back to the students. "Alright then. You" she said pointing to James " Keeper, and you three" she said pointing to Remus, Lilly and Marlene "chasers, you two can be" she said pointing to Sirius and two other students (one short girl with bobbed hair and one boy hair that was so blonde it was close to white) "beaters then you" she said pointing to another boy with a catish look about him "seeker" then she went about sorting the rest of them into roles for other teams. "Don't worry we'll sort you around, okay first team go!"
After that James prompted his broom to rise before he ascended into the air, for the next hour he ruled the pitch. Swerving bludgers and other plays and diving for the snitch, his best role was a seeker of course he was agile and well coordinated. Sirius was just as great as a keeper but Remus just couldn't seem to find his place he could only seem to move when the bluger game for his face and was about as fast as a cave troll. Finally after what seemed like forever, the trials came to an end.
Sirius and Remus finished changing first and went back to the dorm early, Remus wasn't exactly look forward to this as he knew exactly what was coming from Sirius.
"So, see any girls that looked nice?"
"No"
"What about that Pandora girl?"
"No, she's nice I'm sure but her friends scare me and her brother" Remus said making up an excuse
"Oh Evan he's fine, anyways Reg is literally her best friend so I'm sure we could-"
"No Sirius, no she's just not my type"
"Okay well anyone else"
"I'll get back to you on that one" Remus lied
"As long as you do" Sirius shouted after Remus who was running away
"Mhm" Remus yelled back
James had stayed behind talking to Lilly and Marlene outside the changing rooms before they decided they went to find Dorcas in the Slytherin common room. James then walked back towards the dorm accidentally bumping into Reggie on the way.
"Oi!" He said James knocking out the content of his satchel.
"Sorry" James said stopping to help Reggie pick up his things "Oh, Reggie"
"It's Regulus, Potter"
"Right, Regulus. Sirius really wanted to see you and talk to you abou-"
"He can tell me himself I don't need some owl, thanks anyways now go strut back to the dorms like always" Regulus remarked sarcastically walking off toward the Slytherin dorms. When James got back Peter was asleep and Sirius was washing his hair, again. Remus has fallen asleep on the sofa with a journal over his face. James picked it up not to read but to to get of his friends face but the words on the page immediately caught his attention...
