The Marauders quidditch match

Chapter 1 the train

It was the start of another year at Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry. James potter and Sirius Black had boarded the Hogwarts express early so they could get all the good sweets before everyone took them although Sirius had already taken some fizzing wiz bees from home.
The pair were sat in a compartment toward the front of the train. They were both waiting for their friends Remus Lupin, a tall boy with curly brownish blonde hair, he had the personality of an old grandad and dressed like in two he was always reading and could often be found lurking in a corner somewhere at parties. The other a young nerdish boy called Peter Petigrew, he loved honeydukes visits and would always try to be a bad boy similar to Sirius and James but was always a bit to innocent for that.
Remus was the first to arrive. Both of them had only seen him once over the summer and it didn't last long. They'd gone out on a picnic one sunny day it was fun and the three spent the day in fits of laughter but when it hit about six Remus was very quick to leave. When he arrived his hair was blonder than both of them remembered and his face was more freckled both likely due to the sunny weather.
About half an hour later Peter showed up, his hair was also lightened by the sun but only in streaks which made his hair a sort of blondish brown colour.
It wasn't long before Sirius saw his brother Regulus walking through the station his head was faced to the floor. Sirius banged on the window, Regulus looked up at him his face showed slight surprise as if he hadn't expected to see him. Sirius kindly smiled at his brother but Regulus just stuck his middle finger up at Sirius and stormed off.
"It's fine, don't worry about him" James said putting his hand on his brothers shoulder

"Shut up, he's my brother I can't not worry about him"
The train quickly set off and an hour or so later the four boys arrived at Hogwarts. James was the first to see the school, it hadn't changed a bit yet was still as breathtaking as if he'd never seen it. James and Sirius ran off towards the school like young school boys playing chase, Remus went to find the girls and Peter just trailed behind.

"Hi Lilly"

"Oh hi Remus, how was your summer?" Dorcas asked. She was a very smart girl who always wore her hair in braid, she unlike all the boys was In Slytherin she was one of the good ones though.

"It was fine" Remus said

"Okay, Reggy seemed off" Dorcas said

"Dorcas!" Marlene said hugging her from behind

"H-hi" Dorcas said blushing a little

"You were saying?" Remus asked

"Oh yeah Reggy seemed off, he was upset and stuff. Should probably ask Pandora she'd know what's up"

"Yeah we can go find her later if you want" Marlene said

"Sure find me before lights out, I'll be in the dorm"

"See ya" Marlene said as Remus walked off towards the school.

Within the hour everyone was in their dorms putting on their robes for the sorting ceremony, as Sirius changed Remus couldn't help but notice his new tattoo.

"What's that?" Remus asked

"It's a paw print, I thought it looked cute"

"Since when did you like cute things?"

"Since always?" Sirius said confused

Soon everyone was in the hall to begin the sorting of the first years into their respective houses.

"Welcome, welcome back to another year at Hogwarts school, a few notices before we begin. As always the forbidden forest is out of bound for all students. Honeydukes visits will be going ahead and finally the quidditch team trails will be going ahead on Friday. The pitch will be open after school hours to practise. Now let us begin"
James was absolutely buzzing, he didn't focus for the rest of the feast or talk to anyone but as soon as it was over he ran down to the notice board in the hall and there he found it "quidditch trail sign up" he wrote down the names 'James Potter, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black' on the paper right at the top.
