Alice

It is feasible for me to write a thousand-paged book of the history of how looney and loopy I, Alice Styles, have gone.

To say that I am in the edge of becoming completely mad is an understatement.

Because I've already gone completely and utterly mad.

Why, you ask?

Calum-my-love-Hood has just asked me if we could be friends. I know, I want us to be more than only friends but I think he just doesn't want me to feel pressured or something, so I agreed and said yes.

I feel like collapsing on a bed of roses tonight. This is it! The beginning of my love story.

"Someone's overjoyed today."

My head perks up.

"Aunt Elyssa!"

"I told you never to call me that."

Elyssa Styles is my father's youngest sister. I never thought that she was my aunt at first, for she could pass up as a highschool student! Well, that's because she is. Anyways, she's only fourteen months older than I am.

"I just dropped by to check on your mum. Harry said he'll be home later than usual."

He always comes home late. What's new?

"Oh." I deadpan.

"So why do you look like you're in paradise?"

Are you kidding me? I'm way more than just in a paradise. I absolutely feel like I'm in heaven. My ultimate crush and most likely the man of my dreams has just proposed to me. Proposed a friendship that will eventually, I tell you, turn into something saccharine and then he'll tell me that he can't take it anymore and ask me to be his girlfriend. And of course, I'd say yes.

I'm definitely not exaggerating.

"No, I'm not. I just perfected a pop quiz, is all."

"Oh, really?"

"Yes. Really."

"I don't think I'll be warmly welcomed there."

Princess Thompson has just given out invitations for her very first party which is tonight. As fortunate as I can be, I did not receive any damn invitation.

"You are Calum's girlfriend! Why won't you be invited?"

Sometimes, I worry about how rumors spread around school. "Trish. I am not his girlfriend, I am his girl friend. There's a space between those two words!"

I don't like Calum to think that I'm in a rush. This might pressure him and then he'll decide that it is best if we sort of just not see each other and fall apart.

Oh universe! Don't let such misfortune ever happen to the likes of me. I know I am not the most rewarding child these lands has ever been allowed to walkabout, but please give me this one chance and let me be with my precious person.

"Earth to Alice!" Trish has her eyes on me. It is as if she is straining her neck, trying to tell me something.

"I don't know we were playing charade." Just a moment ago she and I are just talking about my future husband. I don't think I spaced out longer than a minute.

A clearing of throat from behind me made me turn around.

"Oh. That was fast."

"What is?" Calum queries, his perfect brows shooting up to his hair.

Well, I was practically begging the writers of my destiny for a chance to spend my time with you and then you showed up just like "poof", magic!

Thank you, universe!

"Nothing."

"I was just wondering if you got an invitation later tonight." He rubs his nape as he tells this.

Calum is shy. The love of my life is shy and possibly because of me! I could die now! But let me savor this moment first.

Is he asking me out?

"Don't just gape at him! He's asking you a question."

"I know. I'm not a bloody dimwit!" I spared Trish a glare. She's ruining my moment here.

"Well, I didn't get one. Perhaps I'll probably be just home, later tonight." I wish he gets that I'm hinting for him to ask me out.

Don't just stand there! Be a soldier and ask me out! Although I'm not quite certain if soldiers are required to ask someone out, I just think that they are brave and that they should be fearless and not succumb to fear of being rejected. No need to fear my sweetheart, for I will more than willingly get myself hung than reject you, my Calum. Ask me out! Come on, ask me out!

"I'll talk to Thompson."

Dang it! He's too blunt. I guess one can't be blessed with everything. At least he's good looking.

"What for?" Trish mutters.

Another glare, I gave to my friend. Stop butting in Trish! That is if you still wish for another day in your life!

I fear that my jealousy would be worser than today if ever Calum and I officially become a couple.

"I will ask if she can let my date come to her party. Or she'll lose another goer."

Date. Date? Date! Is he pertaining to me?

~

Whoosh! They go.

I applauded as another biker does a somersault in the air.

"Go get 'em, man!"

I smiled goofily at Calum as he cheers at someone.

Oh. It's just Luke.

He looks our way, well, Calum's way, and gives him a nod before diving down on that waterless pool.

Wow. He's a great skater. I can't believe he is lucky enough to be given such talent! I guess the Supreme Being is too kind to him.

"Why won't you join them?" I believe that my boy friend is way better than him.

"I don't do skates."

Oh.

No! You suck, Alice! You should still be proud! He's gonna join a band, a rock band I tell you.

"So, I heard you're joining a band." And I know you'll do better than this cocky show-off of a boy named Luke. "Is Ashton the lead? Or is it you?" Of course he won't be. That man's a crazy.

"No. I'm in vocals and bass guitar."

Oooohh. And I'll be down, upfront the stage, cheering for you babe.

"I knew you'll be singing!" I knew it. Just hearing his husky, not too deep, voice gives this magical vibe all over my body; revivifying my soul to life. Do souls have lives?

Never mind that.

"Yeah. But I'm not the lead."

That's okay sweetie. I'll still cheer for you.

"My man, Luke, is the frontman."

Okay. That young lad is seriously more blessed than he deserves.
