As Y/n, Ballister and Nimona go back to base, in Ambrosius perspective he is brought with the director who shows a scroll with a girl that looks like Nimona as a monster.
Director: Do you see it Ambrosius? She's a monster, THE monster the one your divine ancestor Glorith supposedly slayed...
Ambrosius looks on at the paper in disbelief with a paling face.
Ambrosius: I don't... then why would Ballister be helped by her?
The Director smiles sweetly but with evil intentions.
Director: perhaps he's being brainwashed... Or he was always her accomplice...
Ambrosius hums, in pure disbelief, surely the one he loves wouldn't do this? But after all, he did put blatant trust in that monster, then Ambrosius remembers something.
Ambrosius: what about the other man? Y/n they said his name was...
The Director frowns, while squinting her eyes, the creases at the corner of her lips twitch.
Director: I already did a background check on him...
Ambrosius: well?
The Director hums, "he doesn't exist in our database... not even his name exists..."
Ambrosius's eyes widen, this man doesn't exist, that must mean he was either a homeless orphan with no name or... "he broke into the city...", Ambrosius said with a horrified look.
Director: he might've, we don't know for sure, there is no damage in our inner walls and the walls are too thick to get passed, and the walls to high to scale without being caught... I did find something strange though...
Ambrosius stares at the Director with a curious look, "what is it?"
The Director places a old dusty plain book on the table its spine crumbling and the pages falling apart from the years of unused cover and pages and the natural age showing itself, there is a faded golden writing saying 'The Book of Genesis".
Director: I found this, an ancient book from a few thousand years ago... I was doing some heavy reading, before I saw this...
She turns to a marked page with a slow
Movement revealing an even faded picture, showing someone, that someone looking like Y/n but with an unknown symbol on his forehead.
Director: look familiar?
Ambrosius stares at the picture, noticing a name under it 'Cain'.
Ambrosius: could be just a coincidence...
Director smiles a bit, "True, the book says that Cain was alive tens of thousands of years before our present, but the girl is the monster of our tales, so maybe he is Cain and not Y/n"
Ambrosius: what else does the book state?
Director: he's, a murderer, in fact apparently the first, that's not all, apparently they worship a being called God, and he had a brother called Abel, who he bashed their own brothers head in with a rock...
Ambrosius gulps but stays quiet.
Director: the earth soaked Abel's blood so the first punishment was, the God decreed that Cain or Y/n, would never farm, all soil would become infertile, seeds and plants would wither and die around him, and for his brothers murder, God punished him to be Immortal, to think of his sin then the book just says how he wanders the earth.
Ambrosius: so he killed his brother out of jealousy? Do you think he regretted it?
Director: no... he's a monster, if that man with Ballister and that little monster, is actually Cain, we must kill him... the story may be a little bit fake, maybe he just doesn't age...
Ambrosius: even so... he hasn't actually harmed anyone... if he was the first killer wouldn't he have gone all ballistic by now?
Director: I couldn't care less... when you find those three, dead or alive...
Ambrosius nods and leaves before he gets a notification in his scroll from a private account seeing the video of the Directors supposed confession , which causes his eyes to widen.
———Time skip to Ballister and Ambrosius meeting in the cafe——-
Ballister hums under his hood with bated breath.
Ballister: she a what?
Ambrosius: she's the monster... the tale of Gloreth and the monster she defeated, Nimona is that monster...
Ballister scoffs, "I don't believe you...", he says with an unsure voice.
Ambrosius: confirm it first, ask her... and when she says yes...
Ambrosius takes out a sword, "kill her or subdue her, redeem yourself..."
Ballister takes the sword and it retracts and he hides it, and he sighs.
Ballister: believe me, I didn't kill the queen... the director video proves it...
Ambrosius: does it?! Your allies with a shapeshifter...
Ballister: she's a nice misunderstood girl?!
Ambrosius: and don't get me started on that unknown man!
Ballister: what's so unknown about him!
Ambrosius slams the table and whisper shouts "he doesn't exist! I'm fact Y/n, the name you call him might not even be his real name! He could be a monster like Nimona is! He was cut, shot, fell from a critical height, trampled, slammed and he's still alive!"
Ballister: he could've just been lucky!
He stutters remembering when Y/n regenerated his wounds and caused a plant to die by being near it.
Ambrosius: just do the right thing and capture them! And also here's a book, that might be about y/n
He huffs slamming the book of genesis in the table and leaves the cafe back into the rain, and Ballister eyes the sword in his coat.
Then going to the book he reads it for an hour in the cafe going wide eyed when getting to the picture.
Ballister: what am i gonna do...
Next book: Betrayal and Heartbreak.
