Chiaki showed up on the day of the sports festival, clad in her gym uniform. The speech that Shinso had given really got her fired up, and as she watched the declarations of war that were passed between Todoroki and Midoriya, she decided to form an alliance.

Chiaki strode over to the Hashiras and Shimizu, a large grin on her face. “Shimizu-kun, Hashiras.” Her classmates sweatdropped fearing yet another declaration of war was at hand. “Let’s team up.”

“Huh?”

“The way I see it, we’re pretty strong on our own, but we know nothing of anyone else’s abilities outside of class 1-a. So, let’s team up. I’m sure you guys want to win this as badly as I do, so, I’m suggesting that we form an alliance to help each other through the first two rounds.”

Shimizu nodded, “Not a bad idea, Hanryoku-san. After seeing you fight at the USJ, I’d be a fool not to accept your offer.”

The Hashiras agreed although they hadn’t witnessed her famed fighting skills themselves, the chatter from their peers had impressed them.

And so, they stuck together as they walked out onto the field. Chiaki listened excitedly as Midnight announced what the first game would be…

Competing in an obstacle course…

"Huh… that seems easy enough.."

Chiaki grinned towards her allies; perhaps she was overconfident, but that wasn't necessarily bad.

Of course, Bakugou’s speech had pissed off the entirety of the first years. Chiaki facepalmed as Bakugou walked back into the crowd.

The first years lined up at the tunnel entrance. Chiaki examined the competition. She was sure that the first obstacle was the entrance itself. She was also expecting Todoroki to attempt to immobilize everyone fairly quickly. Chiaki grabbed Shimizu's wrist.

“Shimizu-kun, how much control do you have over the steam-counterpart of your quirk?” She whispered.

Shimizu gave a quick demonstration. Chiaki smirked. “Think you can surround the four of us with steam hot enough to counter Todoroki’s quirk?” Shimizu thought for a second before responding. “It might burn a bit, but I believe it’s do-able.” Chiaki took another look around just to be sure. “We need to get closer to the front first.” She muttered, grabbing Miu’s wrist as well. Miu grabbed onto her brother’s wrist, keeping them connected as Chiaki pushed through the crowd to get closer to the front of the tunnel.

On the word “Go” Shimizu formed a cloud of steam around them, keeping their feet from being frozen. With that being done, Chiaki, along with her three friends began running as fast as their legs could carry them.

“WOAH WOAH WOAH, WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT?! WE”RE OFF TO A GREAT START ALREADY FOLKS!!”

Chiaki was quick to catch up to Todoroki, and she was quick to dodge under a blast of ice that he sent her way. “Sorry, Todoroki, but I respect you too much to let you beat me.”

Chiaki felt the ground shake, and with the shaking of the ground came giant green robots. She watched as Mineta screamed as he was swatted away by a giant mechanical arm. She shuddered, freezing in place as she evaluated the situation. Chiaki glanced towards Shimizu, who stopped by her side, the Hashira twins quickly following suit.

“What’s your evaluation, Hanryoku?” Shimizu asked, looking at her. Chiaki examined the robots. “Evade. Don’t fight unless absolutely necessary.” Miu gave a quick nod as she jumped over a mechanical arm. “Got it. Mio, time to put a little bounce in your step.” She grinned as she spoke, easily avoiding all of the robots that attempted to hit her.
