Mackenzie's First Day

(Mackenzie's POV)

I'm on a train. Okay that sounds a little underwhelming but I've been dead for a year and the trains in hell are unsafe. Also I died on a train so I wasn't too excited to hop on one. When I died my appearance didn't change much. Dark skin, orange hair, brown-red eyes. One thing did change: I have a set of broad feathery wings like a harpy. I was wearing a dark brown singlet and a yellow jumper.

It was nice to go to school again. Proper school. When I came to hell I had to do a month-long course on the laws of Hell and how to use a bow and sword. Now I am going to a real school, I guess as real as school can get in the afterlife.

I was alone in the train car, it was hard for a human to have been selected. Your sins on earth had to be mild on earth and promise to be good. Oh, and you needed to pass a risk assessment with a low to minimal risk of creating chaos in Heaven.

The pearly gates were rapidly approaching and my train was running parallel to one with three Hellborns. It must have been easier for a Hellborn to get into the program since they didn't necessarily sin to belong in Hell.

The train dropped the kids off at the pearly gates. We stood in awkward silence fora while before the female Hellborn started venturing into conversation.

"So, I-uh, I'm Zora"

I looked at the Hellborn girl with her black bob and white spotted red skin. I put out my hand for a handshake; Zora looked at my hand.

"Oh! Sorry" I hastily put my hand in my jumper pocket. "It's an Earth thing, you do it to when greeting someone formally or closing a deal like this"

I grab her red hand and shake it.

She goes, "Oooooh" and gives a nervous chuckle.

"This is Frosher and Sam." Zora quickly diverts the attention to what seems to be two other Hellborns. One looked obsessed with frogs and the other was extremely emo.

The one covered in frog merch spoke first,

"Hi I'm Zora's older brother and Sam is her other older sibling"

I turn to Zora "Your brothers are cool"

The emo, Sam, thrust hood hand toward me as if for a handshake "Sam, they/them"

I blush and shake his-their hand; I hate misgendering people!

The pearly gates open and a woman greets us. She Is about 5' 5", she had blue skin with white spots;she is wearing a white polo, pink jumper and white pants. All her clothes are perfectly clean, something I haven't seen in a long time. She has long blonde hair, brown eyes; her ears are WINGS she has a cute halo.

"Hi, Welcome to heaven. I'm Miss Anderson or Miss A. You must be the successful applicants, I can tell from the" pauses and looks at us "Hellish appearance.... Anyway follow me!" She has a chirpy voice.

We walked around in Heaven for a while. It was beautiful, it was clean, it had actual rivers that aren't full of lava. Miss A rambled on about the feature of heaven, the swimming pool, zoo, town hall; Of course none of us hellfolk were permitted inside. So why she bothered showing us was a mystery. Heavenfolk we passed stopped and started at us. Probably because we were from hell. Zara had a very awkward smile as we walked through heaven. I really settled into me that I had gone from hell to heaven.

We eventually made it to the school. And my, my it was a masterpiece of architecture. It was multiple stories high made of marble and had circular columns and kinda had a Greek style to it.

Miss A held her arms out and said "Welcome to the Academy of Halos!"
