(Caleb's POV)
I was in one of the ally ways in Sydney. To be specific an ally way in a bad part of town. It was the only place I could make money. I was a fortune teller. Some women would yell at me how I was full of nonsense and then complain when I was right. One time I told one to vaccinate her baby. When the baby got sick she came running to me yelling that I had got her baby sick.
I was walking when some big guys stopped me on the street. They pointed at me "You, Caleb!" I didn't recognise them. I ran the other direction. This is not the place you mess with people. I had a satchel with all my stuff in it. I thought of the items that would help me. Dice, no. Star chart! No. Incense? How am I going to fight with vanilla. My matches are too small to do any real damage. My cards and dice were too small. That's when it settled in. I have nothing.
If this could get any worse one of the thugs jumped out in front of me I backed up but I bumped into another one. I looked to my right a wall to my left. Well, something that I'd rather have not. One of the thugs had blocked the road with his car. He got out and pinned me to the wall. I was panting. They started ranting about how their girlfriend broke up with him after I told him that they were incompatible. Aries and Pisces are just that. It's not my fault. I stumble over my words as I try explaining it to them.
The press hard on my throat and I black out.
I came to my senses and I was lying under a tree. I had everything I had just a few minutes (at least I hoped it was minutes) ago when I was in Sydney. I stand up and look around. In the distance there was a sign. I ran to it.
Once I reached it I could read what it said. "Welcome to Midlands. Population: 2". This sent a chives up my spine. I was not alone.
