Years later..
Harsh winds howled loudly in the far distance, and lightning crackled, like the repeating cycle of enormous tree roots spreading throughout the sky, every now and then..the brightness it brought along so beautiful yet so threatening that it brought goosebumps across skin.
The continuous slapping of rain against solid was almost painful, yet it's impact felt as numb as anything on Syren's skin, his body as pale as the flickering light above his head due to the freezing cold.
Pearly teeth bit on Pink, delicate lips, threatening to turn white, as his body shook under the rain that continued to pour on him like buckets of icy water. He shifted foot to foot, shivering while he waited for his usual bus to arrive, as he stood under the flickering light stand, and the little shelter it provided that only worked in safeguarding him from being totally soaked.
From a distance, if anyone looked at him, all that would be visible would be a tall, lean young man with shoulder length hair laying damp on his body, and his freckles that looked even more highlighted in the pink blush that surrounded his button nose, skin that seemed to glow in the fainting light of the light stand..his big eyes distant yet dreamy and lips puckered in the smallest pouts.
He had been waiting for as many minutes as he could remember, yet not a single vehicle passed by, leaving him totally confused and irritated. It wasn't long before he actually felt his patience falter, and even as he felt scared walking alone and cold through those terrifyingly silent roads, he refused to be fooled into waiting even a second more.
He hung his bag the opposite way, protectively caging his books in his chest, before he removed his glasses, and prepared to run heavily on his legs.
The first step almost made him cry because of how irritated and bad he had already been feeling the whole day...and much more when he realized just how everything just had to go the negative way when it came to him.
After his banishment from his previous pack, Syren had limped his way across the dangerous jungle of Meourné, a dense network of trees that were mostly home to Lions, tigers and rouge wolves, towards the big city of Esaki, where he was actually met with people who had real kindness and humanity in them.
All the way to Esaki, Syren had cried and cried, so scared and terrified of the jungle that just never seemed to end, and the hurt that everyone just kept putting him through..didn't even listen to me..Syren had sobbed and hiccuped as memories came jumping down on his fragile heart like bullets seeking blood.
They say when a bond is broken, wolves turn insane, into hungry rouge wolves who lose their human side and become dependent on the urge to hunt..in the worst cases, some of the wolves die due to this broken bond, if not mutual or consented from their side.
And Syren had cried even more, much more because this bond that broke wasn't supposed to break-and the pain had been too much-and also that he was only 16..
A 16-year, already fragile werewolf, not presented, banished from his pack and abandoned by his mate, with the only way to survive included crossing the darkest jungles...Syren still struggles with the trauma.
It took him a whole month to finally reach the borders of Esaki, where he met the patrolling wolves, who had immediately taken him into shelter due to his fragile age and the condition of him, and hadn't even mentioned any type of risk if the said boy wasn't that innocent.
His life after that got better eventually, and now he is peacefully living as a common werewolf..a B-type beta..
It had rained that day, Syren thought with a shiver wrecking his body, and he clutched his books tighter in his hands, as he sprinted against the harsh wind and the striking raindrops, totally soaked and unwilling to stay in the rain for too long...
The road was long and endless, and Syren felt goosebumps arise on his skin as he ran past empty roads and abandoned buildings, even when he knew he was not unsafe in this territory..
It looked as if it had been an hour since he had started running, but the one hour felt more like ten to him and while he had successfully succeeded in reaching the heart of Esaki, there was still a whole mile left for him to cover before he would actually reach his home.
Breathing seemed like the biggest task, and syren felt irritated, and helpless tears build up in his eyes at the way every single store just had to be closed today. And Syren didn't ever cry, he couldn't cry..after all those years, he just never cried..
And so, suddenly feeling as if the world was falling, and the sudden tears that seemed to get out just because he was a little irritated, was a mental shock that he couldn't even comprehend.
The rain had reduced to a slow drizzle, but he was already soaked-drenched, and shivers kept erupting over his whole body as he struggled to stand upright..his body so feverishly hot that the rain Did no good in cooling him anymore..
A closed cafe's name illuminated before him, yet all the words seemed to fall everywhere to everywhere, and then slowly, the whole world was starting to spin before his eyes..he shuddered and gasped, legs unstable and his books falling from his hands.
And as he felt himself sway, his knees buckled and the ground just seemed to get closer and closer-but before he could fall on the ground face-first, an arm wrapped strongly around his waist and his head lolled on a hard chest. His eyes felt as if they would close and never open, and his body felt burnt at all the places he was being touched..
"You okay there?"
The voice felt like a rumbling storm, like rocks rubbing against each other, and like the chest behind him was vibrating with each word..and Syren felt his eyes role to back of his head, leaning on the chest that stabilized him before he got a whiff of the strong smell evaporating from the man, just like wet soil after rain.
He tried to look back at the stranger, but all he could see or feel or smell was nature..soil and rain, and winter and summer...and all of those at the same time..before anything else, he was clutching the male behind him, and cocooning himself in the male's chest before his eyes were watering yet again, and then the world was falling into blackness as if in slow motion..
"Hey..Easy there, now..it's all okay..go to sleep.."
The last words he heard were like a mantra in the back of his head, reminding him yet again and again, that it was okay, and that not all things were always his fault, and that he was actually valued, and that he was not abandoned...
The 21-year old fell limp on the stranger's arms..The stranger that kept holding him until he was laid safely in the back of his car.
"How Did I not know, till date, that someone like him is also present in the city? He doesn't belong here, and you know this very well.."
His sharp eyes slid past Syren's figure, towards the man standing beside the car, his body dressed in a navy suit, looking just as confused before he stuttered.."..I-I don't now, Sir..I'm sure everyone who enters the city has their background already checked..H-how he is an exception, is beyond my knowledge.."
The Former looked at the man with the sharpest gaze, for the safety of the people of the city was to be controlled by him, and the man must have realized his failure, since he just stared down at his shoes in a sign of submission and apology..
The tall stranger said nothing, only took a seat In the passenger seat and refused to meet eyes with anyone, seemingly lost in his own thoughts..
