Chapter Seventeen

Sunday had been a textbook example of both confusion and rank strangeness in the life of Theodore Walton Fisher.

First the startling revelation that  he had a unknown brother who had been kidnapped at birth and apparently found dead.

Then that Saint was sick with an incurable autoimmune illness which amazed both Theo and Reed since the man was always the very picture of good health.

And finally the explosion that was Charles' break up with Lane. That event had tossed Lane on the sofa at Winnie and Dennis' one bedroom place and Charles in a self appointed exile. When Theo had attempted to call Charles he had told him that he didn't want to discuss it at all. In fact he was rescheduling all his appointments and going to Howard County, Maryland of all places. " What's in Howard County? ," Theo had asked. Before he hung up Charles had mysteriously replied," Family. "That had inspired more questions in Theo. He had always assumed his friend had no real family. Or at least not family that actually associated with him.

As for Lane he was still saying he had found proof that Charles was cheating on him and that was why he had left. The young man was very hurt and attracting the attention of mini man slut Juan Ramirez. Juan was currently circling the teacher like a shark in the water smelling blood. Theo was not pleased to hear that Lane and Juan had made a coffee date for next week. He was still Team Charles as his son would say. And he didn't believe that Charles was cheating on Lane.

Reed had told Theo in bed to stay out of it. To him both men were big boys and knew what they were doing. In Reed's opinion neither had a clue though.

And there was Natalie who was busy making list after list after list of people she wanted to interview for the documentary. He was hoping Monday would start out differently. First it was a school imposed holiday. The Academy called it Self Care Day and gave all staff and students the day off to ...... well basically do self care. Benji was in his room playing video games , Baylee was playing dolls in her room and Reed was at work while Theo was trying to do that self care thing by working in his front yard flower garden. His roses were actually coming along good and could probably rival his sister Grace's. He was in the garden when he received the call from a man named Maynard.

Maynard sounded very old and exhausted. He could barely catch his breath over the phone as he talked. He wanted to meet with Theo that evening.

He wanted to discuss Micah.

Micah. His brother he had never knew he had.

The rational side of him said say no but the emotional side that wanted to know more about Micah was curious. He agreed to meet him but only in front of his house.

There was no way he was letting a stranger in the house with his family. After all he wasn't stupid. No matter what Grace said in her vlog.
