OOH
LET ME HEAR
FACETIME ME

as the facetime call came in, adelaide turned on her bedside lamp so julie could see her face.

"hiiiii," adelaide grinned as her best friend's face filled the screen.

"hello, disappointment."

"aw, you're so romantic! now show me the song, woman."

"you're so demanding," julie laughed. "here, i'll sing the chorus. and rise through the night, you and i, we can fight to shine together. bright forever."

"that's really good! did you write that?"

"no, uh.. someone else did."

"... vague, but okay," she laughed. "ugh, this is so exciting! you haven't sang in forever— which reminds me, i found a song my mom wrote, and i'm not gonna use it, sooooo.."

"i would be honored to sing an alicia ramirez garcía original," julie grinned.

THE NEXT DAY, ADELAIDE WOKE UP EARLIER THAN USUAL TO GET READY. she pulled half of her hair back in a claw clip so she didn't have to deal with it, and put on her light-wash, high-waisted jeans with a long-sleeve nude top. she slipped her beat up converse on her feet, threw on some light makeup so she didn't look like she got hit by a bus, and practically skipped to julie's house.

she had her wired headphones in blasting music as she walked.

"feel the rain on your skin, no one else can feel it for you," she hummed to herself as she ran up the steps of julie's house. she opened the door with a grin, pausing her music. "honey, i'm home!" she called.
