IT WAS HIS fifteenth birthday. Percy had just woken up and was now just lying on his bed.

There was a tapping noise on his window. He got up and moved over so he could see his window.

He came face to face with Nick on his fire escape. The son of Helios gave him a crooked grin and Percy felt giddiness consume him.

Percy quietly opened the window so Nick could climb through. The blonde boy tackled him into a hug and Percy melted into him.

"Happy birthday, Perc," Nick whispered in his ear.

"You know you could have just came through my front door, dumbass," Percy teased.

"Eh, this felt more convenient and like it was going to add even more to my surprise visit," Nick reasoned. "Plus it makes me feel like a guy in a 90s film sneaking into his girlfriend's room through her window."

The comparison made Percy blush. He wondered if Nick knew what he was doing to him. He probably did and he was just slowly terrorizing him. It seemed like something Nikolaos Castellan would do.

"You are so weird," Percy insulted playfully.

Nick grinned at him. "You love it."

More than you know.

"I don't hate it but I definitely don't love it," he corrected.

"Uh huh, sure. Whatever you say, birthday boy."

Was Nick flirting with him?

"My mama didn't raise no liar so you have to know it's true," Percy defended.

A knock sounded at his door and Percy looked back and forth between the door and Nick in panic because he knew what this was going to look like.

Paul and his mother knew he liked Nick and them finding Nick in his room early in the morning isn't going to look so great.

Percy moved Nick against the wall where the door would hide him and he put a finger to his lips to signal to Nick to not say anything.

Nick smiled at him as Percy opened the door. He looked like he was enjoying this whole situation way too much.

Paul and his mother were there standing at the door. They both pulled him into quick hugs.

His mother gave him a kiss on the forehead. "Happy birthday, my son."

"Happy birthday, Percy," Paul told him next.

Percy thought back to the previous night when Paul had asked his permission to propose to his my mom. Percy smiled to himself at the memory.

"Are you sure Nick couldn't come to the party?" His mother asked. "That sucks because I know that you-."

Panic coursed through his veins. Percy quickly cut his mother off before she could blurt out something he did not want Nick to know. "Yep, I'm sure mom."

She gave him a strange look like she knew something was up.

Mom senses. Always ruining his plans.
