"You know, I really wish you could let me see your wrist. That bandage looks like it hasn't been changed since ages." Jade frowns, turning her chair to face Peter, who is fixing the top button of his shirt.
"I assure you, the wound is being taken care of, Jade." He states, not looking her in the eye. Jade can only sigh.
"I was curious what you must've done to get tased like that."
"Don't unnecessarily meddle yourself into this, Jade. This place is dangerous enough as it is."
"Precisely why it's imperative for me to know."
"How so?" Peter raises a brow quizically, raising his hips to slide his belt into the loops. Jade cannot help but imagine her hands on them, squeezing them, digging her nails into his flesh until there's blood—
"Jade?" He snaps his fingers in front of her face.
"Yeah, sorry. What I mean is that if I know what triggered them into doing this to you, I can be aware of the boundaries right?"
"The biggest boundary in this lab is to not meddle yourself in business that is not yours. That shall keep you safe enough." He says sternly. There's a flash of guilt in his eyes, but he doesn't let that stop him from making his point. He sees the hurt across her face, and it upsets him.
"Jade . . . " he walks to her, squeezing her hand in his own, "what I was trying to say is that in this lab, the less you know the better."
"I already know too much, Peter. I was unsafe the moment I stepped in this lab."
Even Peter couldn't have denied that.
He sighs. "If you must know," he leans against the desk, their hands still laced together. The feeling from his touch doesn't help with her lack of focus. "I caught Two trying to hurt Eleven."
"Again?" She gasps.
"Well, I stopped it all in time. But Dr. Brenner saw me. Tased me for it. That's why I said, don't meddle yourself in business that is not yours, Jade."
"So you won't protect Eleven anymore?"
"That's not what I said." He purses his lips in a fine line. To her, they still look pretty kissable.
"Ah, so the rule applies to everyone but you?" She scoffs, dropping his hand. He frowns.
"Jade, no offence, but you're simply a doctor. They're dangerous people."
"And you're simply an orderly. You can't even look after your own wounds, unlike me."
"Are you challenging me to stop consulting you?" He smirks, knowing he's pulled a nerve.
"DON'T YOU DARE—" She gets up from her chair to do something she isn't sure about, when Peter breaks into a laugh, startling her— and himself. It's an odd feeling. To laugh.
"I was only joking." He shrugs.
"I could smack you for that." She glares.
"But you wouldn't hurt an injured soul, would you?" He pulls what is the most adorable puppy eyes she has seen in her whole life.
"Whatever." She rolls her eyes when he grins widely. Dork.
That doesn't stop her from wanting to smash him against the door and—
"I should leave. It's my shift soon in the rainbow room. I don't want to be late and give Two another opportunity to hurt Eleven."
"Of course." She agrees, albeit a little upset.
When he turns around to leave, Jade— in her feral state of mind— immediately notices how perfectly his pants fit around his ass and the mere thought of it drives her wild.
