VIVEK'S POV

Tears welled up in my eyes, making my vision blurry. The only thing I could see was a horrifying sight of blood everywhere.

"Arggghhhh," my father let out a painful groan as a knife was thrust into his arm. Blood started to ooze out from the wound, falling in droplets onto the grass below.

The man, who was cloaked in black, reached into his pocket, pulling out something that made my heart stop. It was a gun. He was going to shoot him.

A wave of panic washed over me. I have to do something...anything...

But I was frozen in place. I couldn't .. couldn't move.

I had to do something. But the fear of him killing me too was paralyzing that I couldn't move. I have to tell Maa, but... he might harm her too. I felt utterly helpless, standing there unable to move.

"Helpppp!!!" I tried to scream, but no sound came out. The words were stuck in my head, unable to escape my mouth.

"Hand me the files Rai, you still have time," the man in the black cloak demanded.

"I won't... I never will," dad responded defiantly, using his other arm to support himself on the ground.

Suddenly, a kick landed on dad's stomach. Blood splattered from his mouth as he collapsed onto the ground. Another kick sent him sprawling into the pool.

Splash!!!

The man had thrown him into the pool. He knelt down, grabbed him by the back of his neck, and started to drown him.

"Never will? There is no will for you anymore Rai," he replied and shot him.

"Shhh... it's okay....you're okay" a sweet voice invaded my ears as I felt a soft hand caressing my hair, just as my eyes flung open. And I wasn't in front of the pool, hiding behind the tree. I was in a bedroom, my bedroom.

I turned my gaze a little, and I was greeted by the most beautiful view in front of me. Avika's hair were a little disheveled, her eyes swollen and her lips glistening pink as usual. She was looking at me with... a concerning gaze.

I got up and sat with my back against the headboard and I realized I was sweating.

The same nightmare. Again. It's been 20 years since that incident and still the nightmare doesn't leave any stone unturned to haunt me. I still have the same exact nightmare.

"Here" Avika passed me a glass of water. The need made me gulp it in one go.

"Nightmare?" She asked as she moved to sit in front of me. I was surprised she's even asking that. My enemy was asking me something instead of ignoring me as always. What a dayy!!

I nodded, noticing the change in her expression from doubtful to curious. Well, I might not like her, but I've always observed her.

"Umm..." She paused for like half a minute and then continued, "You can talk to me about it you know... if you want, I'm all ears" she said with an uncertainty in her tone as if she wasn't sure if she really wanted to. It wouldn't actually surprise me if she didn't want to.

"I know" I replied, my tone icy and ignorant. I didn't want to discuss about that, I've never wanted to. And right now, me opening about that incident to anyone would be the last thing on my mind. Anyone and especially her.

"Do you have them often? Because this is the first time I've seen you having them" Again, how could I forget she's a curious little rabbit, even if she hates me. That was the thing about her, she may be hating you, loving you or loathing you, but her curiosity could easily overpower her feelings for someone.
