I wore my surgical gown and gloves as I walked into the OT. I greeted the doctors in there, intentionally ignoring Tanju. "How are the kids, my child?" Dr. Adil asked, and I smiled behind my mask. "They are alright. I left them with Anem because it's going to be a long surgery," I said, and he nodded.

"If you feel tired, tell us. You can go and rest at that time," he patted my shoulder, and I nodded. I looked up at Ferman sir, and he smiled at me. "I bought books for the kids," Ali whispered, making me chuckle.

Soon Junaid came in with the patient. Selvi unnie also walked in. We had gathered the whole team of surgeons: me, Nazli, Ali, Dr. Ferman, Dr. Adil, Dr. Tanju, Selvi unnie, Junaid, some nurses, and anesthesiologists.

The patient was given anesthesia, and Dr. Adil made an incision on the patient's body. I clenched my hands. It has been a long time since I saw blood. I am pretty sure I will do this, inshallah.

"First, we're going to take out the organs and remove cancer cells, making sure not to damage any tissues," said Dr. Adil, and we nodded, carefully taking out the organs and placing them on a sterilized tray.

"Nazli, you'll handle the intestines with Dr. Adil. Ali, focus on the liver with Dr. Tanju. Yazia, you'll assist me with the stomach," Dr. Ferman's stern voice filled the OT, and I nodded.

"Scalpel, please," I forwarded my hand, and Junaid handed me a scalpel. I carefully dissected the cancer tissue. "Clamp," Dr. Ferman's loud voice filled my ears while I continued with the surgery. I made sure my whole focus was on the patient.

"Yazia, retract," he instructed, his voice calm yet commanding. Swallowing hard, I positioned the retractors as instructed, my hands steady despite the surge of adrenaline coursing through my veins.

"Send these tissues to pathology," I slid the tray towards Junaid, and he nodded. I shifted my weight from one leg to another as I felt pain in my legs.

I had been standing for hours. I sighed, focusing on the surgery, trying to ignore my own pain. We completed the stomach and moved to the lung.

"The organs started clotting. We need to hurry up," Dr. Adil urged, making me panic. I bit my lower lip in worry.

I sighed as I walked out of the O.T. I was on the verge of fainting. The surgery lasted for almost 9 hours, and my head was spinning. After taking off my surgical gown and gloves, I washed my hands. I opened my phone to see texts from Yasir. He must be worried.

I replied to his texts and closed my phone with a sigh. I'll call him once I get back home. I changed into my abaya and walked downstairs. The driver was already waiting for me. I got in the car, and he drove straight to Anem's house. Dr. Ferman made Nazli stay, even though she had a leave today because she had to monitor a patient.

I got out of the car and walked inside. The cries of the twins filled my ears. Oh my babies.

I walked into the lobby to see Anem cradling the babies. "Oh my beloved daughter. I don't understand how you handle these twins," Mama said as she noticed me, making me chuckle. "Yasir helps a lot, so it doesn't trouble me," I replied, taking Emaan in my arms.

"They woke up a few hours ago and cried for some time. I made milk for them, and they played for a while, but I guess they started missing their parents," Eomma chuckled as she patted Arslan's back.

I kissed Emaan's forehead as she stopped crying and started playing with the pearls on my abaya. "I should leave now. I am really tired, and it's really late too," I said as I got up from the couch. "Stay here tonight, my child," Mama insisted as she stood up with Arslan in her arms.
