Harper's POV:
I woke up to the sweet sound of birds outside the window. I smiled and squinted my eyes in the sunshine that came from the window. I tried to sit up to look out of it, but when I moved my head felt like it was splitting in two.
Fuck.
Memories from last night came flooding back to me. I jumped out of bed despite my body protesting, to look for my phone, which I thankfully found. I opened it and my heart started beating a million miles per hour when I saw the time.
10:43am. Fucking hell. I'd missed my train to France.
I felt like such a mess. I then caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, which confirmed the feeling. I looked like a mess too. My blonde hair was everywhere. I decided to braid to look a little less disheveled.
I needed to find the sweet guy that had brought me home last night. Thinking back to it, it was a stupid decision to go with him, but I was very grateful that it had worked out. He could've been a complete dickhead, but surprisingly he wasn't. I had to thank him.
I was a bit nervous to leave the room, but I knew I had to bite the bullet.
I tiptoed out to find the kitchen door slightly ajar. Humming was coming from inside, so I assumed it was Joan. But when I quietly entered I was surprised to see the back of a woman, cooking something on the stove while humming quietly to herself. He had mentioned that he had a sister, so I assumed it was her.
"Um, hi!" I awkwardly said.
She spun around, smiling. Though when she saw my face her smile wiped off her face instantly.
It took me a second but when I realised who it was my breath hitched in my throat and my jaw dropped.
She was no better though. She just stared at me, eyes wide. She looked as though she had seen a ghost.
So she clearly had recognised me too.
"Ah...So...Ona, right?" I stumbled over my words in attempt to break the awkward silence. Why was I so nervous?
