Harper's POV:
The music was so loud that with each beat I felt the floor shake. Yet my ears felt muffled. My vision was blurry and my mouth tasted of alcohol. I couldn't believe I had allowed myself to get so drunk again. I hadn't even had that many drinks. Maybe it was that shot that guy had bought me. What's the point of coming to Barcelona if I wasn't going to remember half of it?
That thought lasted for about a split second before I felt myself get absorbed by the crowd. I stumbled as my foot caught on someone's pants. I felt myself falling before two strong arms lifted me back up. They were muscular, but not arms of a man. I wondered to myself why I liked the feeling of them around me so much. The next moment they were gone though and I turned, trying to get a glimpse of the owner of them. As I spun I caught the eyes of a woman whose warm brown eyes could literally be mistaken for honey. I felt my breath hitch in my throat as I got lost in her eyes. Oh my god. She was breathtaking. I swear my heart started beating 1000 miles an hour.
"Be careful hermosa," she yelled over the music. She smiled at me, but not before glancing down at my lips. "Come dance with me later, yeah?" She said, her thick Spanish accent making the sentence even sexier. I felt my cheeks heating up. "It's so hot in here." I muttered to no one in particular. Leaning across to my ear, she gently whispered, "I'm Ona." She grinned before spinning around and walking to the bar.
I wanted to follow her but my head was spinning. I couldn't see properly. Trying to walk to where I had seen her last, I stumbled again, into someone's chest. It was a broad chest this time and I caught myself by grabbing onto the material of the man's shirt. His arms caught me. All I could think about was how much I preferred having the woman's arms around me.
"Oye! Estas bien?" The man's dark eyes looked down at me worriedly. I looked up and saw that he had a kind face, yet a crease right in between his eyebrows when saw me. He seemed very familiar.
"Nos habloso. Sorry." I replied. The Duolingo Owl would be disappointed in me. All my Spanish had flown out the window.
"Oh! I am sorry. Are you ok?"
I couldn't bring myself to reply as I felt my eyes well up with tears.
"Shit!" He gasped, led me over to a table and sat me down.
He took a deep breath before saying. "I need to get you to home. Uh, where are you staying?"
More tears spilled onto my cheeks. This was so embarrassing.
"That's the thing. I don't have anywhere to stay. The hostel kicked me out and so I thought that if I stayed up all night here I wouldn't have to sleep and..." I choked on my words. Despite the alcohol I felt my cheeks go red from humiliation. "It's ok though... My train leaves at 9am so I only have 7 more hours to wait." I tried to smile at him.
But he was shaking his head at me.
"Nonsense. You can come stay at my place. And do not worry, my sister lives with me - because I know that going home with a random man does not seem like the best decision. Wait here I will just go find her."
He walked away and I put my head in my hands. What the fuck was I doing.
