Scream

'I wish to scream,' I say,

'To speak of my pain,'

Yet the words do not come,

Instead, they pound my head like a drum.

'I wish to love less,' I say,

'For love is only pain,'

Yet pain can be so beautiful,

Special in its own kind of way.

'I wish to end this dream,' I say,

'But dreams are not this nightmare,'

Dreams aren't such dark shades of grey,

If it were a dream, you would've stayed.

'I wish for you to love somebody, and them to make you smile every day,'

Even if it is not me who can heal your pain, the reason you wish to stay.'
