Two: Getting to Know Her

The following day, Annabelle couldn't get Niklaus out of her mind. Katerina was wondering what was wrong with her sister. She's never been giddy over anything and now she is. "Should I know what is wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong. I met someone that I want to know." Hearing a knock, the sisters looked together.

"Hello?"

"Is this the Petrova house?" Their father nodded. "I'm here to ask to court your daughter, Annabelle." They looked at the youngest shocked as someone they never met wants to court her.

"Of course you can, sir. She's a good child unlike her sister." Annabelle glared at their father.

"She's a good person too. Katerina just likes having fun. She wants to be her own person and that is what she will do. Leave her alone."

Katerina smiled at her sister for standing by her side. "Thanks. Go have fun with that man."

"Oh, I will."

"So that was your sister?"

"Yeah. Father isn't too pleased with her right now. She had sex, I haven't, meaning he will probably give me to a rich family." She tells him. "Thanks for coming by and asking to court me, you may have saved me from an unwanted marriage. I want love, I want a family."

Klaus looked at her. "If I told your father that I'm rich, would you still give me the chance to know you, so you can see I'm not going to be like those men out there."

Annabelle looked at him. "I don't want you for money, Nik, I want you because I think you deserve love, a family, everything that you never got."  She tells him touching his cheek. "Just be yourself."

Niklaus looked at her shocked. He never thought anyone would tell him, but she did. He pulled Annabelle in a hug and held her. "Thank you for saying that." He tells her. "No one has ever said that to me."

Annabelle held him. "I'm here to listen if you want to talk."

"Okay."   

Annabelle smiled as she took Klaus to a lake making him smile. Finding them a place to sit, they started talking about anything. He learned that Annabelle liked dancing, painting, everything he likes. Taking her hand in his, the two started dancing.

"Niklaus, why are you really around Annabelle?"

"Is it wrong of me to know someone?"

"Not if you are using her to get to her sister for this ritual. You shouldn't hurt that girl because of your selfish reason." Elijah tells him.

Klaus looked at him glaring. "I will never use Annabelle. Her sister falls for any guy in this damn village and yet, you truly think that I'm using the one girl who has made me feel something that Aurora or anyone before has made me feel. Think what you want, brother, but I will not stand here and let you think I'm using Annabelle when I'm not."

Elijah watched Klaus walk away as Rebekah walked over to him. "Elijah, may be you should see how him and Annabelle are. I've seen them together and Annabelle makes him less of an ass."

"I worry about Katerina and her sister. He doesn't need to use her..."

"He's not. I think he hasn't seen her sister yet. If he has, then he will find another way, but for now, his main focus is Annabelle."

Elijah didn't know what to say. Is Annabelle really changing Klaus? If so, he'll have to see it for himself.
