The party was, well, a party alright.
One step in, Gyuvin already had lights blaring in his face and the strong bass of some dubstep music berating his eardrums. Suddenly he wished he brought some earplugs or maybe headphones of his own, but he couldn't turn back now, especially since Ricky had been in such a hurry to get to the party.
"Does this seem any fun?" Ricky nudged Gyuvin's shoulder, asking him as though Gyuvin would respond positively. Gyuvin gave the party the benefit of the doubt—if he didn't start feeling the vibes at least an hour into the gig, he'd probably start following Ricky like a helpless dog hoping for stimulation.
"I have my hopes." Gyuvin smiled optimistically, looking around at the place that already seemed messy despite being prepped for an event. "What do we do? The balloons?" his eyes scanned the multicolored array of balloons scattered throughout the room keenly.
"I guess. It looks horrible with them all on the floor, I'd hope he wanted us to arrange them." Ricky sneered at the sight, his perfectionist attitude kicking in at the mess. Though Ricky rarely threw parties much if at all, he knew the hosting etiquette.
"Right on," Gyuvin followed Ricky. If the loud music and crazy physical effects weren't going to be of any help, at least there was a chance that the scenery would.
After some discussion, they had come to the consensus that Gyuvin would be working on the balloons. They decided that based on the fact–well, the opinion that the Bambi's hands were too shaky to handle placing the letter stickers on the wall (courtesy of Ricky).
It only took them, say, an hour to get the decorating done. Thank goodness Ricky had decided to come early because God knows what would have happened if they had come on time with the intent of helping Ricky's friend set up.
"It looks great!" Gyuvin grinned, looking over at Ricky for feedback. He'd just finished his side of the balloon wall, and he was feeling very proud of himself.
"All of your balloons are lopsided." Ricky deadpanned, eyes glazing over the noncoordinated colors and disheveled array of both small and big balloons. "But it looks fine. Everybody will be too distracted to care." he eventually shrugged, sighing.
"Ricky, the first guests are arriving now!" A new voice emerged from the darkness, one Gyuvin definitely did not recognize. "You brought a friend?" The person motioned toward Gyuvin, who waved awkwardly.
"Yeah. He helped with the balloon wall, but it's not that pretty." Ricky looked behind him haphazardly, hoping his friend wouldn't tear the whole thing down. Truthfully, Gyuvin was hoping the same exact thing.
"It looks great, what are you on about?" Oh, that's a relief! "I'm Seunghan. You must be Gyuvin. I think I saw you on the court during the game last week, right?"
Gyuvin was pleasantly surprised to know that someone recognized him from the court. It was a nice feeling, but it shocked him too.
"Y-yeah! I was on the court, yeah..." Gyuvin didn't mean to sound out of breath when he said that, especially since he had been standing in the same place for the past hour, but alas, he did. Seunghan probably thought he sounded weird.
"You're pretty good. I had my doubts, you know, new player and all. But you're good." Seunghan gave Gyuvin a double thumbs-up, giving the Bambi the boost of confidence he needed. Hearing praise from his teammates was one thing but from a total stranger? That was new and very, very well received!
Gyuvin thanked Seunghan and, as if on cue, the door burst open and a flock of high schoolers streamed in one after the other. Gyuvin started to get flashbacks to the celebrity life he had never lived—a mob at its finest.
