Mingyu was burning by the time he reached his apartment, he was hardly walking straight, stumbling upon his steps as he made his way toward the couch. He laid there looking at the ceiling with his droppy moist eyes which were red due to his high fever, he felt cold and unable to make a movement. He was pitying his current situation when he heard the shrill sound of his ring tone, making his headache worse. His phone was in his pocket and with all his effort he took it out, the screen was blurry he was unable to make out the name, he pressed the green button to get rid of the sound and soon was welcomed with the voice he loved so much "mingyu?" He closes his eyes having no energy to fight the drowsiness "mingyu did you reach home safely?" She asked he hums as a response "give me your address " she continues after a pause. The request was so unexpected that it made his eyes snap wide open "what?" He utters not believing his ears "I asked you to send me your address right now, you never listen do you. I told you to visit doctor but your toxic masculinity won't allow you now you're alone and unable to help yourself so give me the address so I can at least come and give you food and medicine " she rants angrily "you don't have to-" "shut up mingyu and listen to me once" she cuts him short "I'm hanging up and send me location " with that being said she cut the call and soon recieved a notification from him. "Selena you ready?" She asked as she picked up her bag "yeah let's go" both of them went to pharmacy to get the medicine first and then grabbed a taxi to reach mingyu's apartment. She rang the bell and waited for some time but no one opened the door "are you sure it's his place what if he pranked us?" Selena asked "he wouldn't want to die" she replied and took her phone out to call him which he luckily picked up "the spare key is under the flower pot on the right " he muttered tiredly making her even more worried about his condition. She walked to the plant and found the key, as soon she opened the door she was welcomed by the darkness "Allah" she gasps Selena look for the switch and turned on the lights then they saw a lying figure on the couch "mingyu oh my God what have you" she pauses. She took the thermometer to check his temperature while he laid their subconscious "I shouldn't have let him go without a checkup" she says after checking his temperature "I'll bring some wet towels then make something for him while you stay by his side" she informs Selena who nods at her. Wafiyah went to kitchen and filled a huge bowl with cold water and grabbed some towels "here, it will help to reduce his temperature, I'll be back soon " she placed the bowl on table and Selena started putting wet towels on his forehead. Wafiyah had slight difficulty in finding the things she needed to cook but still managed to make him chicken soup and also made some side dished so he can eat them later. She spent a good 30 minutes in the kitchen and came out with a tray "how is he?" She asked Selena "well he is quiet I don't know" she looks back at mingyu whose eyes were closed "mingyu?" She calls "can you please open your eyes?" He didn't budge "Selena he's scaring me" wafiyah says worriedly "should I spill the water on him it will make him fresh?" Selena suggests and in return recieved a slap on her arm "mingyu please wake up" she attempts again "How about you add 'for me', he might wake up like how it's done in dramas" Selena says again "Selena for God sake what's gotten into you" mingyu chuckles grabbing their attention "come on make an effort and sit so you can eat" she encourages and Selena help him by placing cushions behind his back to support his uppper body "I'll eat only if you feed me by your hands" the request make Selena angry "he's such an ungrateful bastard" wafiyah slaps her arm again "Selena" she utters in disbelief "I won't help him anymore" she looks between both and sigh at their childish behavior "mingyu please listen to me once" she requests but he shakes his head "today you'll listen to me" Selena got up and left from their "where are you going?" Wafiyah asked " to the kitchen "she sassed and walked away " I'm so dizzy wafiyah, my head is hurting so bad, my sight is blurry I just wanna sleep" wafiyah looks at him with pity so without saying anything else she sat on the corner of table and placed the tray on her lap, she gave him spoonful of soup and rice which he diligently accepted until the food was finished "do you want more?" She asked but he shakes his head "I already over-ate, the food was delicious thank you " he smiles weakly "I'll bring water so you can take medicine " she stood up "wafiyah " he called out making her halt at her spot "yes?" She looks expectedly "a-are you going to leave?" Wafiyah lips part in surprise, both held eye contact for some time because she couldn't find words to answer his simple question "I'll leave after helping you to your bedroom" she says and leave "Selena I'm making him some tea till then accompany him to his bedroom please" Selena glares at her "I won't help him again he's so rude" "please I request you, you're helping me not him" she tuts but comply nonetheless wafiyah get busied in making tea while Selena help mingyu get into his room "thank you miss Selena, I really appreciate your help and effort you've put with me" mingyu says as he lean back. Selena looks at him, he had smile on his face which gradually wiped away as he further added " I would've appreciated more if you didn't come at all" Selena slapped his arm with all her might "you're a fu*ker, bastard and mean I wish you rot here and " she was spitting insults at him but wafiyah came "Ya Allah Selena, what are you saying can't I leave you both alone for like 5 minutes" Selena glares at him but he ignores her "mingyu I know you must have said something to make her react like that please stop this nonsense now" she was tired of both "here take the medicine and after that drink this tea" she extended a plate which had some tablets and glass of water "you should call Jennie and ask her to stay by your side tonight, I'll take my leave now" she says as she rechecked his temperature which had dropped a little "I'll be alright " he says monotonously "mingyu will you stop worrying me for a second?" "Why do you care, if you wanna leave then go" she looks at Selena "mingyu please call her, you need someone to be with you" "I don't want someone other than you and if you want to leave by all means go ahead and close the door on your way out" she looks at Selena for help who was deep in thoughts "I'll be back" she walked out and reappeared after a minute with mingyu's phone "don't you dare " he seethes "I already did, I called Jennie and asked her to come as you're sick" she emphasized on the last word, mingyu kept glaring at her "mingyu you should relax and take some rest please" he closed his eyes not wanting to look at her. After 15 minutes they heard door bell Selena got up to open door for Jennie " Gyu, what happened" she asked worriedly as soon she entered the room but he didn't reply so she looked at wafiyah "he has high fever but he took medicine so he'll be okay" "thank you wafiyah " Jennie smiles at her " No worries, we should leave now" wafiyah says and mingyu opened his eyes again to look at her, he felt so helpless and angry. Why can't she just stay by my side? Why does she has to leave every time? Why can't she be with me? His mind was filled with questions that he couldn't put in words "please take care of him, he's so stubborn and mingyu please rest well and take a day off tomorrow" he just kept looking at her without word "good night" she waves at them and leave the room, Jennie came to see them off and when she came back to the room, she was petrified at the scene, mingyu was crying "G-gyu" she uttered in disbelief "she will never love me back, it hurts. I'm not weak but I can't take her rejection anymore" he says as he sobbed. Jennie ran to him engulfing him in her arms but at this point he was thrashing "Jen I love her so much, I can't take it anymore, she will never reciprocate my feelings, my heart is in pain" he cried in her arms. She felt so helpless it was her first time seeing him wail and cry like that, her own eyes stung at her best friends broken state "Jen please tell her to come back, tell her to stay by my side, I will do anything ill go beyond any limit to make her mine just tell her to give me a chance" Jennie held his face in her hands wiping his tears " gyu please stop this" she says but he shakes his head "I'll die Jen, I'll die" he whispers detaching her hands and leaned back on the pillow "please leave me alone Jen" she tried to protest but he wasn't having it "close the door, you may sleep in the other room" she turned off the lights and walked out.
