JUDE AND ISA WERE IN BED spending their last night together before the baby's due date. they didn't know if the baby was actually going to be coming on his due date, but in case he was, they wanted to remember the last night from when it was just the two of them.
they had pretty much spent the whole week enjoying their last nights together, but this night felt different. the reality had actually hit them that they would have an extra person joining them for the rest of their lives.
the week spent together, reminded them of everything they loved about each other. but beyond that, they were anxiously waiting for their baby boy to finally arrive. they really wanted to be a party of three.
"do you think he's going to come on time?" jude asked as he traced patterns on isa's bare stomach.
"i don't know," isa answered as she was too busy running her hands through jude's hair. "maybe he'll want to be stubborn."
"you don't feel anything? like if he wants to come out?"
"no," isa laughed as she shook her head. "nothing at all, but that could literally change in the next minute or so."
"i really want to meet him, i want to hold him. i'm in love with someone i haven't even met, are you jealous?" jude asked his girlfriend.
"mm no," isa replied. "because i am too."
"by the way, we're definitely getting him into football. but if one day he prefers to make necklaces out of flowers for his mom instead, that'll be okay too," jude smiled to himself as he continued massaging Isa's stomach, enjoying the fact that at times he would feel his son's little movements.
he stopped tracing shapes on isa's stomach, and sat himself up so that she could cuddle into him. "babe, i know that i tell you i love you all the time, but i just want to tell you again that i do. and i hope that i can make you happy for the rest of my life, at least i intend to. i promise to be a good husband to you when that time comes, and i promise to be the best dad i can be, you and our future kids deserve that."
isa smiled at him as she brought his hand up to her mouth and placed a gentle kiss on it, "i already know that you'll be the best husband, and the best dad. but i promise to be that for you too, i hope you know that i'll support you in everything you do, and I'll stand by you in everything."
"i'll support you just as much, my family will always be my priority," jude added.
the two stayed in each other's embrace for a couple more minutes, just enjoying being in each others arms.
"angel?" jude spoke up after a few minutes had passed.
"yes?" isa replied.
"why is the bed wet?"
"well," isa giggled out of nervousness. "i think my water just broke," her voice a mix of surprise and urgency.
jude immediately sat up even more, both concern and excitement visible on his face, "it's time?"
isa nodded, gripping his hand in hers, "yeah, it's time."
