Doctor's office
Two people came out of the car and walked into the doctor's office; Four-year-old Izuku bounced on the balls of his feet, his All Might action figure clutched tightly in his hand. The doctor's office buzzed with nervous energy, but Izuku only felt anticipation. Today was the day he'd discover his quirk! Inko, his mom, knelt beside him, a faint smile playing on her lips despite the tremor in her hand.
Inko: Are you excited Izuku?
Izuku: Excited?! I bet it'll be fire-breathing like Dad's, or maybe something that moves things with my mind.
Inko: Yes I know, but we won't know until they check you out, sweetie.
Moments later, a nurse ushered them into a sterile white room. A kind-faced doctor greeted them with a warm smile.
Doctor: Hello Izuku, how are you today?
Izuku: I'm good thanks, what about you?
Doctor: I'm well. Now Izuku, I am here to talk about your quirk.
Izuku(Prideful): You think that I have one? What do you think it is?
The doctor's smile faltered for a brief moment, a flicker of concern crossing his eyes. He took a deep breath before speaking.
Doctor: Sigh I'm sorry to inform you, but Izuku is quirkless.
A heavy silence descended upon the room. Izuku's heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the crushing disappointment; while dropping his All Might action figure on the floor. Inko, her face pale, reached out with a trembling hand. A gentle blue glow emanated from her fingertips, pulling Izuku's forgotten All Might figure back into her grasp.
Izuku( barely a whisper): What?! Quirkless?
Doctor: We had seen that most of the people who have quirks usually have one joint in their pinky toe, while the quirkless ones have the normal two. On top of that; most kids show signs that their quirk is manifesting when they are babies. What quirks do you and the boy's father have?
Inko: His father can breathe fire and I can attract small objects to me.
She then uses her power to move the action figure from one hand to another.
Doctor: I see. It's uncommon, but it does happen. Unfortunately, it also means Izuku can't become a hero.
The weight of the doctor's words settled on Izuku like a lead blanket. Tears welled up in his eyes, blurring the image of his beloved All Might figure nestled safely in his mom's hand.

The drive home was a blur. Inko held his hand tightly, her grip a silent reassurance in the face of his despair. When they arrived at their apartment, Hiyashi greeted them with a tired smile that faltered upon seeing their downcast faces.
Hiyashi: There is my little hero, what did the doctor say?
Before Inko could answer, Izuku bolted towards his room, the forgotten All Might clutch tightly in his hand. Tears streamed down his face, blurring the lines between his hero and the stark reality that echoed in his head. Reaching his room, Izuku flung himself onto his bed, the video of All Might's debut playing on repeat. The image of his idol, a beacon of unwavering hope, fueled a spark of defiance.
Inko went up to Izuku's room where she saw him watching All Might's debut video. Izuku turns around with tears in his eyes.
Izuku: Mommy, is it possible for me to be a hero like him?
Inko(as she walked up to him sad): I'm sorry Izuku. (Hugged him) I wish everything was different. I wish that there was a simple answer.
A surge of determination coursed through Izuku. No. He wouldn't accept this as the answer. He would find a way.
Hiyashi: Inko; what is going on here?!
Inko left Izuku's room, came back into the living room, and told him everything.
Hiyashi(with venom in his voice): sigh I see. That's unfortunate.
A pang of confusion struck Izuku. His father's words sounded hollow, devoid of the usual warmth. Before he could voice his question, Hiyashi turned towards the door.
Hiyashi: I... I need some air.
The slam of the front door echoed through the apartment, leaving an emptiness that mirrored the hollowness in Izuku's chest. Hiyashi wasn't coming back. Inko sank onto the couch, burying her face in her hands, her shoulders wracked with silent sobs.
Izuku stood frozen, the weight of the doctor's words and his father's abandonment threatening to engulf him. Tears streamed down his face, blurring the image of his hero on the screen. But amidst the pain, a spark of defiance flickered to life.
He may be quirkless, and his father may have walked out, but Izuku wouldn't give up on his dream. He would find a way to be a hero, no matter what.
Izuku: I'll show them. I'll become the greatest hero, even without a quirk.
