It was the first Saturday of Fall break, and yet Mackenzie was up at five in the morning. Her uncle Charlie had an early shift, and she wanted to make him a good breakfast and lunch, knowing he forgets to eat when he's on the job. The ginger haired teen danced around the kitchen to Fleetwood Mac, using her spoon or spatula as a mic. A common occurrence for the teen with music that was created before she was born.

The plan for the day after breakfast was to go down to La Push rez and spend time with her two best friends, Sienna and Matthew. She had met the two at one of the cookouts over at Billy Black's house. The three of them had hit it off instantly and have been inseparable since. Mackenzie made sure to make extra lunch for the three of them.

"Who hurt you kid?" Charlie spoke as he entered the kitchen to the sight of Mackenzie singing Silver Springs.

"You know the only guys in my life are Matt and my book boys. Matt is secretly in love with Sienna, I'm calling it now." Mack stated as she served her uncle.

Charlie chuckled at his niece, a spitting image of his baby sister at that age. He always made it a point to tell Mackenzie at times how much she was like both her parents. He knew he could be awkward most of the times, but like his sister, Mackenzie never let it affect her.

Like any normal breakfast, the two ate in a comfortable silence, only talking when Mack wanted whatever juicy details on cases. Since her second year living with Charlie, she stated she wanted to join the force in his footsteps. He didn't let it show, but it made him happy to hear that.

"Don't forget kid, we have a cookout after my shift at the Clearwaters." Charlie stated as he put his empty plate in the sink.

"Finally! I've been dying for Harry's fish fry. Thought I was gonna be old and with kids by the next time I got some." Mack said dramatically causing her uncle to roll his eyes at her dramatics.

"Tell me you guys have a new play coming up, you need something to help your dramatic side."

"Pfft me dramatic? Never!" She laughed before nodding. "I think we're aiming to do a Musical next. I'm praying for Mama Mia, or Grease."

Charlie didn't know much about theater but he knew it helped his niece stay focused and helped her keep her grades up. If it wasn't theater, Mackenzie was out on the rez tutoring some of their students.

"A red haired Sandy?" Charlie asked, wondering who she'd play.

"I gotta give my fellow gingers some representation." Mack joked.

It wasn't that long after Mackenzie finished her food that Charlie had to leave for the day. As usual she locked up the door after, and cleaned up the kitchen. She had a few hours before her friends would be up, she knew how much they needed their sleep. Mack could function on four hours of sleep and still be an endless ball of energy.

Mackenzie sat a pop up table which sat, her uncle, Billy, Jacob, Sienna, Sienna's younger brother Brady, Sienna's father and Matt. The adults occupied one end of the table, and the kids the other end.

"I felt like it's been ages since we've had Harry's food." Mack stated as she smiled at her plate.

"You look at the plate like you would a boyfriend." Matt snorted, knowing his best friend loved food.

"At least food knows how to make a woman satisfied." Mack said, sticking her tongue out.

"Mackenzie." Charlie scolded before the others erupted in laughter.

"She's just like Maddie." Billy quietly said to Charlie, with an amused smile on his face.

It wasn't long after the dinner that everyone gathered in the driveway with a makeshift fireplace to make s'mores. Mackenzie sat by Seth Clearwater and Brady as she helped the younger two make their s'mores.

"Anyone who tells you one chocolate square is lame and wrong, okay?" She said as she handed the first she made to Seth, and then the next to Brady.

The two boys were about to reply with their mouths fool before she gave them a look, causing them to just nod.

"Hey Seth, where's Leah?" Mack asked once Brady had left to go stick marshmallow goo on his sister.

"She's inside... She's still hurt from Sam leaving her." He said sadly, even tried to show a look of anger.

Mack frowned, she knew the two were dating for a while, and out of nowhere Sam left her. Leah was a few years older than Mack, and the younger girl saw a role model in her. Leah wasn't one to take anyone's shit, so seeing her so down, seemed so unnatural. Mack ruffled Seth's hair, before making a few s'mores and a plate of food to take to the girl. Sue gave the red haired girl a thankful smile as she saw her enter the home.

"Hey Leah, I have a plate here for you. You know your dad's food isn't the same once it's reheated." Mack said as she knocked on the door. She waited a bit before she was about to set the plate down.

Leah opened the door and took the plate, mumbling a quiet thanks. Mack smiled before going outside to the gathering. This was just who Mackenzie was, an extremely kind person who always wanted to help others.

"Come on kid, we gotta get going." Charlie said, just before the two finished helping clean up a bit. It was late and Charlie could see the exhaustion on his niece's face.

Nodding as she yawned, she then began to say her goodbyes to everyone. About ten minutes later the two headed home in Charlie's cruiser. And as soon as she hit the bed, Mackenzie was fast asleep.
