“What’s going on here?”

Reigen was on the floor, after pushing himself away from the guy that refused to let go of his arm. Unfortunately he landed where the glass shattered and now his palms were full of glass shards and covered in blood. All the strength he had left vanished into thin air, leaving him helpless. His cheeks were wet and it seemed like he spilled something on himself.

The guy tried coming up with some excuse to the two guards that came over. Saying his clumsy friend kicked over the glasses, that they were just leaving. Reigen tried to speak up, but no full words were coming out of his mouth.

That was until one of the guards kneeled down to him. Warm brown eyes locked with Reigen’s hazel ones. He felt a pair of strong arms carefully lift him on an actual seat off of the broken glass.

“Kat… Katsuya,” Reigen mumbled. Instead of his usual tone, Reigen was met with a rather sharp voice. “What were you doing here alone?” Serizawa spoke, while the other guard handled the guy, taking him away.

Reigen mumbled something, but was far too drunk and it didn’t make sense. He was just happy that Serizawa was near him. “Do you even know that guy?” Serizawa seemed kind of angry. Reigen saw it and he just shook his head, scared of making Serizawa raise his voice even more.

Serizawa wrapped his arm under Reigen’s and helped him get to one of the staff rooms to get his hands taken care of. Reigen watched as one of Serizawa’s coworkers carefully removed the glass from his skin, then disinfected and cleaned the area and in the end wrapped his hands in bandages. He watched Serizawa talk to someone. He couldn’t hear what they were saying, he just saw Serizawa palm his forehead. Even in his drunken state he knew this meant nothing good.

“Let’s get you out of here,” Serizawa eventually came to Reigen, talking in a softer tone this time. He felt Serizawa’s arms around him once again. For a second Reigen forgot about his surroundings and leaned on the other’s shoulders. They never felt cold or hard, they were the most comfortable place for Reigen to lean on at that moment.

They were in the back of a taxi and Reigen watched the many flashing lights they drove by. Even if he could, he wouldn’t speak to Serizawa at that moment as he was too afraid of how he might react. He sounded mad just minutes before.

It wasn’t like that at all. Serizawa wasn’t trying to sound mad. He was just really worried. Maybe he was a little mad. But then again, he was the last person who’d want to judge Reigen.

They eventually arrived at their destination. While Serizawa was paying the driver, Reigen stepped out of the car and wobbled towards the first thing he could lean on - a streetlamp. He grabbed his stomach with his free hand, he was feeling really nauseous.

The taxi drove away and Serizawa was immediately standing behind Reigen, holding him and gently rubbing his back up and down. Reigen’s stomach finally reached its breaking point and all of the liquor came back up.

Serizawa gently wrapped his arms under Reigen. “Let’s get you into some fresh clothes, okay? You’ll drink some water, brush your teeth and then we’ll make sure you fall asleep feeling fine,” Serizawa was quietly talking to Reigen while helping him up the stairs. They weren’t at Reigen’s place though. Serizawa thought it might be smarter to not leave Reigen by himself. He also didn’t want to snoop around Reigen’s place, so he figured it’d be for the best if he just dragged him to his own place.

They made it up the stairs and while Serizawa fumbled with the keys, Reigen was leaning on him. He felt disgusting, he still tasted the puke in his mouth. When he got sober he planned to apologize to Serizawa over and over.

“Step inside - lift your leg - no not that one! Wait, let me help you.” It was a real hassle, getting Reigen inside. He could barely walk on his own.

Eventually, Reigen was sitting in Serizawa’s bathroom, although on the floor.

Serizawa seemed uneasy about this situation. He was squinting while undressing Reigen, he didn’t want to feel as if he was staring. Reigen did as much as he could to cooperate. Lifting his arms, leaning forward, not throwing up…

Not wanting to completely undress Reigen, Serizawa had to stick with a wet cloth instead of a shower. Bedsheets can be changed and Reigen can shower in the morning, he thought to himself while trying to pull clothes on Reigen. He was struggling with the lower half. Reigen was a bit shorter than him, but that didn’t make him particularly light. He was worried about making him hit his head on any hard surfaces, so he was moving his hands real slow. At some point he stopped squinting to make sure he wasn’t hurting him.

He saw some scars over Reigen’s body. He immediately remembered what his sister said - about him hurting. He swallowed, slightly uncomfortable knowing that he saw something that was probably meant to stay hidden at least for a while. Serizawa mentally noted to apologize to Reigen first thing in the morning. Perhaps it’d be better if he didn’t say anything at all, but he couldn’t imagine living with the guilt of carrying such a secret.

“How are you feeling?” Serizawa asked after he pulled a shirt over Reigen’s head. Reigen briefly made eye contact with the man above him and just mumbled something. Serizawa just guessed he wasn’t feeling too well. He gently helped Reigen get up to at least rinse his mouth. To his surprise Reigen was actually cooperating when it came to brushing his teeth. Perhaps it was because of the gross taste in his mouth.

Finally, after drinking a glass of water, Reigen could be put to bed. Serizawa decided it was his turn to get cleaned up and so he headed into the bathroom. Reigen’s eyelids felt heavy while he was feeling the comfort of the soft mattress underneath him. But then again, he was tired so even sleeping on a warm pile of bricks would have felt comfortable. Despite the comfort, his mind was still with the man inside the shower. He was sober enough to feel like he was a burden to him. No one likes dealing with drunk people. Serizawa does just that on a daily basis and Reigen just makes his job harder with not being able to properly control himself when he drinks. He wanted to get up and go back to his own place, but he’d just make Serizawa worry more. The best thing he could do now was fall asleep and apologize to Serizawa once the morning came. There wasn’t much he could do besides that.

His thoughts made the time pass quickly and he was on the verge of falling asleep, when he heard the bathroom door open. Serizawa stepped out and headed towards the bed first thing first. He kneeled down in front of Reigen. “If you’re not asleep, how are you feeling?” His voice was so soft it almost caressed Reigen’s ears. Reigen forced his eyes to open a bit more. “Bad,” he said with a miserable tone in his voice. “I feel like shit. I’m never drinking again. I’m sorry.” He slurred his words, if he were sober he’d wonder if Serizawa even understood any of that.

Serizawa smiled softly. “Try to get some sleep. I’m right next to you, so don’t hesitate to wake me up if there’s anything you need.” Reigen reached out his hand and opened his mouth to say something. Serizawa took his hand and held it softly.

“Thank you. Goodnight.”

These were not the words he wanted to say to Serizawa.

“You’re welcome. Sleep well.”

But he took them anyway. He couldn’t have known.

Reigen felt Serizawa next to him and he felt the warmth that his body was radiating. He moved a bit closer and closed his eyes to focus on how it felt to lie next to Serizawa. Some moments passed and Reigen found himself comfortably pressed against the other despite not planning to do so earlier. He was asleep so there was no way for him to tell that his plan of sleeping on his side of the bed had failed miserably, but perhaps it was better this way.

The bed was too small for his plan to succeed anyways.
