"Liandra, your boyfriend's over there -" Mira subtly gestured towards Jacob Albrecht.

Liandra's face lit up with anticipation. "Where?"

"There," Mira whispered.

"Jacob!" Liandra called out, drawing his attention as he made his way over to our table.

"Hey, babe!" Liandra greeted him with a bright smile, rising to embrace Jacob and plant a kiss on his cheek.

As they exchanged pleasantries, I noticed Jacob's gaze briefly linger on me, but I brushed it off.

"Hi, Mira! Alexa..." Jacob acknowledged us, releasing Liandra from his embrace.

"Hello, Jacob!" Mira chimed in cheerfully.

"Hi," I replied quietly, focusing on my breakfast. Unlike the lively chatter between Liandra and Mira, I kept to myself, with Jacob now seated to the left of Liandra at our rounded table, creating an intimate space between the two.

I ordered spaghetti and apple juice, one of my favorites, while Liandra and Mira opted for lasagna and orange juice.

Even in my past life, I concluded that Liandra and Mira were quite alike. Even in the way they dressed, there was a similarity. I didn't know if they shared the same likes, but witnessing their hidden sides, especially Mira's, enlightened me.

I couldn't forget those moments of betrayal. Honestly, I never imagined it would happen in my life, even from those close to me - like family. It's a harsh reality when someone we've cherished betrays us for power and greed.

As the conversation at the table continued, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered within me.

I looked over at Jacob, who was deep in discussion with Liandra, his eyes shining with love every time he met hers.

However, everytime his eyes locked with mine, there was a brief look of unease, as though he was hiding something deeply.

It was becoming more and more clear as the talk flowed that Mira was not the kind of a friend she seemed to be.
Liandra gave Jacob her whole being, totally oblivious to the displaying atmosphere, whereas Mira's chuckle was hollow and her smiles forced.

Every glance towards Jacob was not one of genuine interest but rather of hidden desire, carefully concealed beneath layers of deceit. It was clear that Mira's loyalty lay not with her friends, but with her own selfish desires, willing to sacrifice anything - even her friendships - to satisfy her own cravings.

I couldn't help but feel some sort of distaste for her actions as I saw it.

After all, who among friends harbours secret feelings of desire for their best friend's boyfriend ? I saw Mira spin her web of lies, and it was a betrayal that left a bad taste in my mouth.

And yet, despite the warning signs flashing brightly before me, I knew that confronting Mira would only lead to more lies and deceit.

So instead, I remained silent, biding my time and waiting for the inevitable moment when Mira's true colors would be revealed.

And as we bid Jacob farewell and went our separate ways, I couldn't help but wonder how long it would be before the facade crumbled and the truth came to light.

Deep in thought, I've got my game plan sorted. I have decided that I'll be focusing on assisting our company without anyone suspecting that it's me pulling the strings.

Thanks to my past experiences, I've gotten the inside scoop on everything from cutting-edge building designs to next season's fashion hits, even predicting election outcomes and corporate turbulent times.

But alongside the advantages, I still feel the sting of heartbreak like it was yesterday. The wounds of betrayal and loss are still raw, serving as constant reminders that those scars remind me to continue being mindful.
