"Miss Alexa, shall I start the engine now?" Uncle Tony asked. Our driver inquired, as he noticed me still standing and not getting into the car.

I simply nodded as he opened the backseat door. After momentarily stepping inside, I settled myself. I noticed him already seated in the driver's seat, and within seconds, he started driving.

The silent night with the shining lights reflected in the car window was such a pretty view.

The not-so-tall building structures and the cars and people walking were the sights I beheld today. What a moment to cherish-a life with nothing to worry about, a peace that I can only describe as this moment.

Dieter, in the past, always distanced himself. I could tell he was my friend, but I couldn't exactly say I knew him completely. He's the type of person who's stoic, cold, and feels like you're not a match for him to begin with.

He didn't share his emotions with others, but when problems arose in my family, the way he tried to help us-though my dad rejected it, thinking it was one of his family's schemes-and I agreed with it. I don't know whom I'll trust, because even those closest to me have betrayed me.

So, how can I agree with those moments? I don't know what happened to him. After I ended my life in a foolish way, I unconsciously opened my eyes after and miraculously given a chance to start again.

But I don't feel regret about it; what I feel sorry for is being weak enough to be manipulated by other people, consumed by my emotions to the point of making dumb decisions.

This chance is what I'm thankful for. I know I didn't deserve this second chance, but then I'm not a saint to refuse it.

The high-end gate of our villa is what I saw as we approached. Dieter, Jacob, and Liandra are my neighbors, but it's quite a large distance of a lot here in this area.

Part of my plan is to get that project approved by my grandfather. It's a great investment not to neglect.

"Thanks, Uncle Tony," I said as he opened the car door, then got out of the car and saw him carrying my bag, which he insisted on doing, always implying that it's his job.

Entering the mansion, where the maids positioned themselves by the huge main door, I abruptly walked to the dining area and saw my family happily eating with my grandfather. It's been ten years since I saw him again, alive to this moment.

"Hi, grandpa," I greeted him as I walked near his side and planted a kiss on his cheek.

"My dear granddaughter Alexa," he sweetly greeted back with a smile, gesturing to the empty chair beside him.

"Come, sit here beside your grandpa. You have lots of stories to tell-about your first day of school," he cheerfully implied, then giggled.

"Grandpa, it's just the first day of school. There's nothing exciting to share, though," I said with a smile. He smiled back at me as I made my way to dad and mom, kissing their cheeks, and nodding to my siblings with genuine smiles.

"You know very well that your grandpa is one to say dumb things," dad murmured.

"Well, Arturo, this 'dumb man' you're talking about is your father," Grandfather voiced out with a mock face.

This bickering between my grandfather and father is something I missed.

Slowly walking around near my chair, I sat down in my usual spot.

As I settled into my chair, the aroma of home-cooked food filled the air, and laughter echoed throughout the room, painting a picture of contentment.

Midway through our meal, the conversation shifted to business ventures, a topic that always piqued my interest. My grandfather, a canny businessman, shared details about a new project he had recently learned about-the development of wide lots near the lake, owned by one of his friends, the Rockefeller.

My ears perked up at the mention of Dieter's family. The opportunity to invest in such a profitable venture was too enticing to ignore.

"Grandpa," I interjected, unable to contain my excitement, "I've heard about its project. We talk about it earlier. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity."

My grandfather regarded me with a knowing smile, his eyes twinkling with pride. "Ah, Alexa, always quick to spot a good investment. Indeed, Rockefeller project has been generating quite a buzz. It's a promising venture with the potential for substantial returns."

I nodded eagerly, my mind already racing with ideas. "I believe we should consider becoming part of this project as investors. With your expertise and connections, Grandpa, we could play a significant role in its success."

My grandfather's smile widened, and he placed a reassuring hand on mine. "You have a keen eye for opportunity, my dear. I'll look into it further and see how we can get involved."

The prospect of collaborating with my grandfather on such a venture filled me with a sense of excitement. This project was a chance to contribute to our family's legacy.

As the evening wore on, we lingered at the dining table, exchanging stories and laughter. It felt like a snapshot of happiness-a moment frozen in time, where all worries and troubles melted away in the warmth of familial love.

Eventually, the conversation turned to lighter topics, and we reminisced about past adventures and shared experiences.

As the night drew to a close, and my family bid goodnight to my grandfather, I reflected on the events of the day. From the unexpected encounter with Dieter to the exciting prospect of a new business venture, it had been a day filled with possibility.

As I retired to my room, the events of the day replayed in my mind like scenes from a movie. The image of my grandfather's smile lingered, a reminder of his support and love towards me.

With a contented sigh, I settled into bed, filled with anticipation of tomorrow, a chance to seize opportunities, chase dreams, and embrace the second chance that lay before me.

And as I drifted off to sleep, I knew that whatever the future held; I was ready to face it head-on, the lessons of the previous life and the love of those who mattered most.
