---

Days passed quickly, and before I knew it, it was time for the preliminary examinations of the first semester. The school election had also concluded, with Mira Lee elected as our class president. As for the rest of the roles, I couldn't quite remember them.

Liandra and I remained regular students, uninterested in leading the class. I had other priorities, like the work I was currently focused on. Today, being the weekend, I had the leisure to visit my grandpa’s office.

Grandpa had missed having me around and wanted to share some good news, which I already knew about since it was broadcast on the news last night. I never used to watch the news, but things had changed.

"Robert, bring some snacks for Alexa," Grandpa instructed his secretary, who responded respectfully and left the room.

I watched their interaction from the comfort of the wide sofa.

"So, what’s this good news you want to talk about, Grandpa? You could have just called me or talked about it at home. Why here?" I asked, pouting slightly.

"I just missed having you here with me, my dear granddaughter. This past week, you’ve been having a great time with your friends while your beloved grandpa has been alone in his office," he said, his expression playfully sorrowful.

I knew there was some truth to his words. Although I hadn't experienced old age, I could understand the feeling of being left alone and forgotten.

As people age, they often have regrets and yearn for moments they can’t return to because of past decisions that shaped their future. Like my grandpa, who, after losing my grandmother during my father’s birth, devoted himself to his career and his only child. That dedication is why the Del Real family is successful today, built on my grandpa’s blood and sweat.

"Grandpa, don’t be sad. Even if you hadn’t asked me to come, I had already planned to visit yesterday. I just wanted to tease you and see your reaction," I said cheerfully, my laughter echoing through the office.

"You little brat!" he began, but his words were cut off by a knock at the door.

"Come in," Grandpa called, his gaze fixed on the door.

Robert re-entered, carrying a tray laden with assorted snacks and a pot of tea. He set it on the table in front of us and discreetly left the room. I reached for a cookie, savoring its buttery sweetness as Grandpa poured us both a cup of tea.

"Alright, Grandpa, tell me the good news," I urged, curiosity piqued. He leaned back in his chair, a proud smile spreading across his face. "Yesterday, the company announced a major partnership with the Rockefeller family, a dear friend of mine. Together, we're going to develop a series of buildings on the vast land area owned by  Rockefeller as you suggested to accept me to."

My eyes widened in surprise. "That's incredible! But what does this have to do with me?"

Grandpa's smile grew even wider. "George suggested that you and his grandson - Dieter, be part of the youth advisory board for the project. You two will provide insights from a younger generation’s perspective."

"But Grandpa, I'm just a high school student, and Dieter is only a senior in high school. What could we possibly contribute?" I asked, feeling both honored and anxious.

"Your fresh perspectives and innovative ideas are exactly what they’re looking for. This is a chance to learn and make a real impact, Alexa," he said warmly.

I felt a rush of emotions—pride, excitement, and a hint of nervousness. "Wow, Grandpa. I don't know what to say. This is such a huge opportunity."

"I know you'll do great, Alexa. You've always had a knack for thinking outside the box," he encouraged.

I sipped my tea thoughtfully. This new responsibility would be a challenge, balancing school and this project. But the chance to contribute to something so significant was too good to pass up. "Thank you, Grandpa. I won't let you down."

He reached over and squeezed my hand. "I know you won't, dear."

As we continued to chat about the project and other family matters, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for this moment. Despite the fast-paced days and the responsibilities piling up, being here with Grandpa made everything worthwhile.
