"you won't tell anyone what you saw or heard down there,am I right Josie?"

Josie was curled down in the staircase. She had heard voices  at the garage behind their house. The garage acted as the store where they kept farm equipments and livestock food.

She went there knowing that she would finally catch the thief who had been stealing hay and dairy meal everytime she bought a new stock.

On getting there, she was shocked to hear he husbands voice and two other voices she couldn't recognise. She decided to eavesdrop on the conversation and was shocked. She knew husband as a violent man but never in her life did she think that he was more than a wife beater.

"If they dont agree, have them killed" she gasped loudly, making the men in the room caught her. She tried running but was caught by one of the men who happened to be the farm caretaker.

She had promised to keep her mouth shut since that day. She kept that secret to herself despite the beatings she got from husband almost everyday.
After so much investigation, she came to realise that her mother in law was deeply involved in the "business"

Jemima was also a part of the plan to get to her mother in law. Even though she turned against her,she was mentally prepared to tackle them.

Present time
The ride to the Women's prison seemed short since I was deep in thoughts. She had talked to Travis and informed him on where to get the necessary documents needed.
She gave him numbers to two of her most trusted men who were working with her.

Before leaving the court cells, she had confirmed her doubts when jemimah paid her a visit. Her mother in law had promised Jemima good amount of money,a permanent job and assurance of family safety if she testified against Josie.
"Who wouldn't want money" she said.
She knew how tempting it was for a person from a humble background. She knew money was entici g and almost everyone would betray even their own parents when it comes to  greed and money.

She was not going to let thing be as they were. She was tired of carrying people's burden. The real murderer was out there planning another murder case to cover their dealings and sins. She wasn't going to allow that.

"We are here. Off you go.." the officer called out cutting short her thoughts.

She was led out of the police land cruiser and into the prison. This was going to be her new home for the time being. Before being killed or being released from prison. It all depends on the court of appeal.

She walked through the corridors after registration and was given prison clothes to put on. Surprisingly, the clothes were new and neat. Not what she expected.

"Your friend said we shoukd treat you well in here. He paid a good amount to ensure that happens. Don't worry about it,you will have peace while in here. Incase you need anything do not hesitate to let me know" the commissioner in charge of prison told her.
"By the way,am com. Tracy" she said extending her hand for a firm handshake. "You are here to be corrected, not to be punished more, you will learn alot while in here,do not be stressed over the death penalty, love and live well with the others, all will be well. Behave well and be responding to the wardens when needed. Work when needed and I assure you, your short stay here will be enjoyable* she added.

After the visit to the office, she was taken to her prison cell.
A room with two beds with thin mattress,a blanket and a pillow. At the furthest corner, there was a table with books and writing materials on top with two chairs. Right there, she knew she was going to share the room with someone. The room wasn't dark as she thought. There was no windows or space but there was a bulb at the roof. Opposite the table, there was what looked like a bucket, she guessed that's where they did their call of nature business.

"It isn't going to be that bad" she told herself.
