Chapter 2: [What's x With the x Cooking?]

All participants followed Satotz through the swamp.

'Around 36 people were eliminated during the first half of the first phase...that means 368 remain...' Sora noticed.

The sound of crows rang throughout the wetlands as the applicants continued their journey.

"The fog is getting thicker..." Kurapika noted.

"Perfect, this is our chance. Let's get him while the fog is thick..." One of the applicants wearing a blue shirt muttered.

"Gon, Sora." Killua spoke up.

Gon hummed in reply.

"Let's move up more to the front." 

"Yeah, we don't want to loose sight of the examiner and we don't want to bump into any of those creatures from before." Gon agreed.

"More importantly, I want to put distance between us and Hisoka. That guy attracts trouble, I can smell it." The Zoldyck said.

"Smell?" Gon was confused as he sniffed the air and turned his gaze to Hisoka. "I can't smell anything....Leorio!! Kurapika!! Killua says it's better to move to the front."

"You really are a fool." Killua noted.

"Idiot!! If I could go any faster, I'd already be at the front!!" Leorio yelled.

"Don't worry about us!! You guys go ahead!!" Kurapika said.

Hearing Kurapika's response made Gon frown.

"Let's go Gon, Sora," Killua told them.

Sora hummed and sped her pace to match Killua's.

Another scream erupted from behind the crowd.

"I keep hearing screams all around us." Gon said.

"It's reminding us to keep our eyes peeled." Killua responded.

"I wonder if Leorio and Kurapika are ok..."

Suddenly, the trio stopped in their tracks, sensing something was off with the ground. The ground began to shake. Sora felt there was a creature ready to attack beneath them, so she jump from the ground and landed on one of the tree branches near them. But not for Gon and Killua, they didn't have the time to avoid it, and got eaten by a large frog. Seeing this, Sora quickly took out her katana from its sheath and jumped from branch to branch, closing her distance between the creature and ready to attack. Sora leaped up into the air and unleashed powerful slashes on the frog's back. She made sure that her katana didn't hit the center of the frog's body, to make sure she wouldn't hurt Gon or Killua. The frog's body was cut in two as water started to flow out from its body, revealing Gon and Killua. Gon and Killua had looks of confusion for a few seconds, but then saw Sora standing in front of them with her katana covered in crimson liquid. Sora didn't say anything to them, and just flicked the blood off her katana before putting it back in its sheath.

"Whoaa!! You're so cool Sora!! Where'd you learn how to do that?" Gon exclaimed.

Sora looked back in silence.

"Well, you're good at using the katana, that's for sure." Killua nodded.

'Good thing I eliminated that cursed spirit before it digested the two of them...'
