The dragon attack on Melody's carriage was not the start she had envisioned for her journey to Hogwarts. Having spent nearly six months training her magic in order to catch up to the other fifth year students, Melody and her mentor, Professor Fig, were joined by George Osric, an old friend of Professor Fig. As they rode in the carriage, George mentioned to Professor Fig that his late wife, Miriam, tried to warn him about a power-hungry goblin named Ranrok, the goblin from the newspapers Professor Fig would read. Miriam had sent George a rather curious artifact that he had not been able to open. As he pulled the artifact out of his pocket, Melody noticed she could detect a glow from the mysterious canister that neither of them could see. As her fingers brushed against the cold metal, the curious artifact opened, revealing a key.

That's when it happened.

The carriage was ripped apart and Melody came face to face with a rogue dragon. Its eyes were filled with rage, its loud roar nearly making them deaf. She and Professor Fig narrowly escaped the dragon's attack when he grabbed the container George had given them, a portkey in disguise.

Melody and her mentor were transported to an island off the coast. As she listened, she could hear the ocean crashing against the shore, large waves crashing against the rocks. In the distance from the cave they landed in, Melody pointed out what appeared to be ruins of an old castle. As they explored the worn down home, Melody discovered a hidden passageway surrounded by blue wisps of magic. A magic that was only visible to her. A feeling of attraction filled her body as if the magic was calling her. Through the mystical passageway, Melody and Professor Fig arrived at the one and only wizarding bank - Gringotts.

It turned out that the key that Professor Fig's late wife, Miriam, sent George opened an old vault in the deepest part of the bank. According to the kind goblin that escorted them, as soon as they stepped inside, the door was promptly sealed behind them per the "instructions given for this vault". Melody discovered another hidden passageway inside, surrounded by even more wisps of magic. It led them to a different room on the other end of what they thought was a dead-end vault.

However, this new room came with challenges.

Several stone knights descended from the ceiling, defending whatever was concealed inside. It wasn't until all the knights were defeated that Melody discovered her connection to ancient magic. The same ancient magic that Professor Fig's late wife, Miriam, dedicated her life to studying.

After discovering the secret that lay within the vault, Professor Fig and Melody came face to face with the dangerous goblin George had told them about - Ranrok. He was fueled by his deep hatred for wizard kind and that he would one day hold the power to destroy them. Melody cried out as she helplessly watched Ranrok brutally kill the kind goblin that escorted her and Professor Fig to the vault. She finally understood why her mentor was so concerned about this goblin rising to power, he had no remorse. He had killed one of his own with hesitation or doubt. Melody wanted to do something, anything, to defend herself and her mentor, but she only knew basic spells that would have done no damage to the goblin. As if the vault read her mind, a giant pensive guardian grew from the melted metal and marble. While the goblins fought for their lives against the guardian, Melody carried Professor Fig over to another passageway that glowed with the blue wisps of magic. She was thankful that the passageway didn't transport them to another vault, instead it led them to the grounds at Hogwarts.
