Melody speculated with her friends about the potential reasons for the summons to the dining hall. They wondered if it was an announcement about the upcoming Quidditch finals, a surprise celebration of a recent academic victory, or perhaps even the arrival of a special guest from the Ministry of Magic. As she glanced over to the Slytherin table, Sebastian Sallow greeted her with his sparkling hazel eyes and a dazzling smile.

"Hi" he mouthed to her.

Melody giggled as she tucked a strand of her long brown hair behind her ear. "Hi" she mouthed back.

"Alright, alright! Quiet down! Shut it!" Headmaster Black shouted as he stood behind the podium at the front of the hall.

The students immediately fell silent, their chatter abruptly halted by the commanding tone of Headmaster Black's voice. All eyes turned towards him, a mix of surprise and apprehension evident on their faces.

"Now, I know you're all curious as to why you have been summoned here. As a umm... as a reward for the hard work Professor Weasley and I have decided that Hogwarts will host a winter ball on the first snowfall"

Excitement and whispers spread through the room as the students exchanged glances of delight. The prospect of a winter ball, especially in the enchanting setting of Hogwarts, was met with eager anticipation and immediate discussions about outfits, dance partners, and potential magical decorations.

"Yes, I know it's very exciting," the Headmaster said in a sarcastic tone. "Now get back to your classes!"

"Oh Mel, can you believe it? A ball! How romantic!" Poppy exclaimed as the two of them, Natty and Adelaide walked to their next class.

Natty's eyes sparkled with excitement, and Adelaide's face flushed with anticipation as they imagined the enchanting evening ahead, filled with dancing, laughter, and the possibility of finding love.

"Oh my gosh we all need to go shopping!" Adelaide exclaimed. "We have to get our first pick of ball gowns so the good ones aren't bought before we have a chance!"

"I think I might make my own gown," Natty said.

"Oh Natty, how creative! That's brilliant!" Poppy gasped.

Melody couldn't help but imagine herself twirling in the grand ballroom, her heart fluttering with excitement and hope. She imagined the enchanting atmosphere, the twinkling lights, and the magical music that would fill the air. The thought of Sebastian potentially asking her to be his date added an extra layer of anticipation, making the whole event feel even more enticing.
