Chapter 4: Temptations

The dimly lit bar offered a temporary respite from the weight of my thoughts, a sanctuary where I could drown out the cacophony of emotions swirling within me. I had come here seeking solace, hoping to find some semblance of peace amidst the chaos of my own mind.

As I nursed my drink, the burn of alcohol searing down my throat, I couldn't help but feel a sense of numbness creeping over me. It was a welcome distraction, a brief reprieve from the relentless turmoil of my thoughts.

But as the hours passed and the alcohol dulled my senses, a familiar ache began to gnaw at the edges of my consciousness. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shake the memories of Levi's stern gaze, the weight of his disappointment heavy on my shoulders.

Desperate to escape the suffocating grip of my own thoughts, I found myself drawn to the company of a young woman sitting alone at the bar. She was beautiful, with long, flowing hair and eyes that sparkled in the dim light.

"Mind if I join you?" I asked, my voice rough with the remnants of alcohol.

She smiled, her lips curving into a tantalizing grin. "Not at all," she replied, her voice soft and inviting.

As we talked, the weight of my worries began to fade, replaced by a sense of reckless abandon. I reveled in the warmth of her laughter, the gentle touch of her hand against mine, allowing myself to be swept away by the intoxicating allure of the moment.

And when she leaned in to kiss me, her lips soft and inviting, I didn't hesitate to reciprocate. In that fleeting moment, all thoughts of Levi and the tangled mess of emotions he stirred within me vanished, replaced by a sense of reckless freedom.

But as our lips met, a sudden voice shattered the illusion, pulling me back to reality with a jolt.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Jaeger?"

I pulled away abruptly, my heart hammering in my chest as I turned to see Levi standing there, his expression a mixture of disbelief and anger. The sight of him sent a wave of guilt crashing over me, and I stumbled to find an explanation.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean—" I stammered, but Levi cut me off with a sharp glare.

"Save it," he snapped, his voice icy with disdain. "We're going home. Now."

I felt a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach as I followed Levi out of the bar, the weight of his disappointment heavy on my shoulders once again. But as we walked in silence, I couldn't help but feel a pang of confusion stirring within me.

Why did it matter to Levi what I did in my free time? And why did the thought of his disapproval weigh so heavily on my conscience?

As we reached the barracks and Levi delivered a scathing lecture about responsibility and the importance of maintaining discipline, I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration simmering beneath the surface.

But amidst the turmoil of my own emotions, one thing became painfully clear—I couldn't continue to ignore the tangled mess of feelings I harbored for Levi, no matter how hard I tried to bury them. And perhaps, it was time to confront the truth, no matter how difficult it may be.
