I woke up to the sound of my phone going off.I checked the caller ID and it was an unknown number.

"Uh, Hello?" I say setting up and answering the phone.

"Hey this is Matt. I was wondering if you would want to come to a bonfire tonight?"

"Um, what time? And did you change your phone number or something?" I reply while walking downstairs. I'm really hungry so I decided to make some breakfast.

"Well the bonfire starts at 8:30, and no I'm just calling off my friends' phone because mine is charging." He replied.

"Oh okay, well I gtg, but call me later k?" I'm going to call Sophie and see if she wants to come with me. I know Matt wont care anyways.

"K, love you" he says then instantly hangs up. That was weird, but its probably just because he is with his friends.

I put my phone down. I realized that its already 1:30 and begin making breakfast for me and my mom. I really miss my dad, but I don't let it bring me down, but I would give anything to see him again.

Once I was finished with making breakfast, I fixed two plates and took one to my mom. She was laying down on her bed watching T.V.

"Here I made you some pancakes and bacon." I say handing her the plate. "You didn't have to do this, but thank you sweetie" she replies giving me a quick peck on the cheek.

"Your welcome, and I was wondering if I could go to a bonfire with Matt and Sophie later,Then afterwards could Sophie stay the night?" I really hope she says yes. My mom is pretty laid back, so I almost know she will allow it.

"Of course, but if there is any beer at the bonfire, you,Matt, and Sophie aren't allowed any." She said taking a bite of her food. "You do know that I'm your child, and they aren't right?" I say with a giggle at the end. "Yes, but please stay safe." "You know me mom. I will, and Matt and Sophie are the same way"

I walk out of her room and go up to mine. I'm going to call Sophie later because I still have to make sure that its okay with Matt.

^3 HOURS LATER^

It's 4:52 and I'm going to call Matt.

I dial the number, and after four rings there is still no answer. I wait and finally it went to voicemail. "Hey, I was going to ask you a question about later, so just call me back when you get this,K?" I left a voicemail, and hung up. What could he be doing that's to important to answer a call?

I realize that I have his friends number so I call it. After 2 rings someone answered.

"Hello?" a deep voice said.

"Oh, Hi. This is Matts girlfriend, I need to ask him something, but when I called his phone he didn't answer." I say getting worried. "Um, he left about an hour ago, but he said he was going to your house?" The boy said.

I just hung up and paced back and forth in my room. I can't stop the different thoughts flooding my brain. Why would he lie? I know that it couldn't have took him over an hour to get here. I don't know what to do. Right as I was setting down my phone started going off. It was Matthew.

"Hey"I said.

"Hello, this is Officer Enwright. I'm afraid that Matthew Espinosa has been in a terrible car wreck. He is fine, but he is going to be staying in the hospital overnight. He said that he was on his way to your house, and wanted me to call you so you wouldn't be too worried. We are sorry about the news, but we hope you have a good night ma'am."
