"Brooklyn wake up", I heard my mama call from my bedroom door. Umm. "I'm up" I say, sitting up and rubbing my eyes, I look at my phone to check the time it's 7:00 am. I get up and use the restroom. Then walk into the living room to see my mama and sister sitting on the couch talking.
It's the end of August so school is starting tomorrow. Huh, I'll be going to high school. I'm nervous but, also really excited. When things come to a end it gives space for something new to begin. "Good morning" I say.
"Good morning" mama and Dani say in unison. I then step to the table where my devotional is and start to read the one for today.
August 8
I SPEAK TO YOU from the deepest Heaven. You hear Me in the depths of your being. Deep calls into deep. You are truly blessed to hear Me so directly. Never take this privilege for granted. The best response is a heart overflowing with gratitude. I am training you to cultivate a thankful mind-set. This is like building your house on a firm rock, where life's storms cannot shake you. As you learn these lessons, you are to teach them to others. I will open up the way before you, one step at a time.
Thank you Lord, you are awesome! I thank you for waking me up today and I just pray Holy Spirit that you would led me in that way I should go and to let your will be done for my life. In Jesus name I pray amen!
"So what are we doing today?" I ask. "Well we got to go check on aunt Mira, and then get ready for your first day of high-school tomorrow, my baby's are growing up on me." Mama says with a frown on her face.
"You have Carlee, and Leeson as well as Emoni and Serenity." I say. The boys are twins and the girls are twins as well as me and Diana. Yes I know, my mama had 3 sets of twins. The boys are 9 and the girls are 2 months old. Me and Dani are 14. The boys stay with their deddy though. "Yeah, but y'all are my first babies." Mama says.
"Speaking of the girls, they must still be asleep?" I say.
"Yeah." Mama says.
"Soo I might as well as go check on them." I say. I walk into their room and see them awake looking up at the ceiling. Their curly brown hair a mess and their beautiful green eyes looking at me "Good morning my loves!" I pick them up, Serenity on my left and Emoni on my right. I then walk back into the living room. "Look who's up." Mama says.
I sit on the floor with them so they can do belly time. "I'm going to go get ready for the day." I say. I get up and walk into my bed room and go over to my closet to pick out my outfit. "Umm Lord what should I wear today?" I then see some black jeans and pair it with a grey What Would Jesus Do shirt.
I then walk into the bathroom bushing my teeth and doing my hair. I walk out and mamas dressed, doing her hair as well as Dani. While they're doing that I get the girls take them to their room and start getting them dressed. "Come on my loves!" I say. I then dressed them both in a baby shirt and jeans as well as there little shoes. "Y'all's so beautiful, yeah." I say. Doing their hair. They look at each other and smile. There gums showing.
A few minutes later we all get into the car and drive to aunt Mira's. We get there and all walk in. Emoni in my hands and Serenity in Danis aunt Mira's not doing too good. She lost her husband not too long ago and ever since just went down heel. She so skinny now, her grey brown hair up in a pony tail, with a tee shirt and sweat pants on, as well as some flip flops.
"Hey y'all come on in, Im so glad y'all came to see me." She says.
We sit in the living room which is right there at the entrance. "How have y'all been?" She says. "All of y'all's so beautiful." Dani and I say thank you. I studied her, her brown eyes looking back at us. "Have y'all girls been helping your mama with the babies?" Aunt Mira says. "Yes ma'am." Dani and I say in unison. "That's good!" She says.
After a hour or so we say our good byes and leave. It's about 4:00 o'clock now, so we have to head home and get everything ready for our first day of high-school tomorrow. We already brought everything we need, just have to pack it. And I already have my outfit planned, I've had it picked out for a couple of days now.
As we're driving home I look out the window and look at the beautiful birds flying in the sky.
"Home sweet home." Mamas says, pulling up to the house. We live in a white and light grey house, back in the country. A little ways from town. We all walk into the house. I put Serenity down and go to my room and get my stuff to take a shower. After I shower I read my Bible.
Tonight I read Luke 9:24 which says, for whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
After I read my Bible I write down my prayer in my prayer journal.
"Lord help me to lay down my life and surrender my life fully to you. I ask that you would use where you want to use me. Fill me with your spirit, so that I do what you have called me to do and be who you want me to be. In Jesus Precious Name I Pray Amen!"
I then take my new book bag and supplies and start unboxing it. Putting it all into my bag. While I do that I call my best friend Bell and my other friends Edie and Anna. We all start talking about tomorrow and how we all hope we are in some of the same classes at least. Bell had long brown hair and beautiful green eyes as well as some freckles along her nose. Edie has brown curly hair as well as brown eyes and a wide smile. Anna has dark blond hair with hazel eyes. After a while of taking we all say goodnight and hang up.
After I hang up the phone I go kiss mama and the girls goodnight. "Goodnight y'all, I love y'all sleep tight!" I say. Walking back to my room. I get in the bed and turn off the lights. I plug my phone in and make sure my alarms are set for in the morning. I drift off to sleep as I say my prayers.
