A/N I know this was promised yesterday night but I got tired and wasn't feeling well and I didn't want that to ruin the chapter. Hope you are reading and staying tuned, more soon!
Harry thought he had the wrong address.
He sat outside The Palace staring up at it in disbelief while the cars behind him honked and the driver gave him dirty looks in the rearview mirror. “Are you sure this is the right place?” he asked for the thousandth time.
“Look kid, just go inside and see if it’s the right place. If it’s not, get a different cab and go to wherever it is you want” the man told him in a patronizing tone. Harry sighed, paid the fare went into the building.
He found himself inside with his mouth hanging open at the extravagant interior. He didn’t know how long he had been standing there before the security guard behind the desk cleared his throat. “Can I help you?” he asked in a way that made it clear he didn’t want to help him.
Harry collected himself and walked over to the man. He was skinny and balding but still young looking. When he spoke he had a slight French accent. “Yea I’m looking for um,” he pulled out the journal “Mary Stephanie. I don’t think I’m in the right place.”
“Ah of course the Stephanie’s! I’ll call up to them. Are they expecting you?” the man perked up at the sound of their name.
Harry was shocked that this was actually the right place. This girl was full of surprises. “No. But she’ll remember me. Harry” he said.
The guard nodded and picked up the phone. He only had to press one button before it started ringing. After a minute or so of anticipation, Harry heard a voice on the other end. The security guard turned away from him so that he could only hear half of the conversation.
“Hello Ms. Valerie! There’s a Mr. Harry here looking for Ms. Mary” he said into the receiver. The whole thing sounded very formal. “Of course I will wait! Take your time…Uh-huh. Ok. Ok. I’ll ask him” the guard looked at Harry, “Ms. Mary would like to know what you want from her life?”
Harry smiled despite himself, that did sound like something Mary would say. Even though he had only met her an hour ago and only found out her name 10 minutes ago. “I’m returning her, uh, diary” he said with a smirk.
The guard nodded again and turned back to the receiver “Mr. Harry is returning Ms. Mary’s diary. Uh-huh. I see. Right away Ms. Valerie!” He hung up the phone and turned back to Harry, “Ms. Mary says come up right away or else” the guard told him, as if this was an everyday occurrence.
Before Harry could say anything else, a different guard appeared from practically nowhere and told Harry he would escort him to the Stephanie’s apartment. This guard was a big man who had striking resemblance to One Direction’s body guard Paul, only Paul’s cheerful softness was replaced in this man with annoyed anger. The man, who he learned was named Bill from his name tag, took him to the elevator and put in a key card which lifted the gate and opened the doors of the elevator. They both got in and Bill pressed the button for, what else, the penthouse. By this point Harry was done being surprised.
They rode up in uncomfortable silence until the elevator came to a halt when they finally reached the top floor. The doors slid open and the first thing Harry saw was Mary standing there, arms crossed, in a tank top and shorts, hair up in a bun. Her socks didn’t match and she looked like she had just woken up.
The first thing Harry thought was that he couldn’t believe that she lived here. The second thing he thought was that she was actually quite gorgeous now that they were out of the lighting of the club.
