Omg this took way too long to update I am so lazy man it's been what 6 months omg so sorry
Recap: Lucy shouted, banging her hand on our table. She blushed bright red when she noticed the entire restraints eyes were upon her. Without as much as a word to me, she turned her heels and stomped out.
I sighed, paying the bill for the two of us before chasing after her.
"WAIT FOR ME, LUCY!"
Lucy's P.O.V
I stomped away from the restaraunt in anger and embarrassment. Well in all truth, I had no right to be angry at Ayumi, I guess she was only trying to calm me down. But I still got a bit overwhelmed. But the fact that we're being stalked is a way creepy, and the possibility that it's by the people who overtook my guild is even creepier. How much magic did this guy have to hypnotize the entire guild? It was probably more than one person....but still. That took a lot.
As I took a turn down a road, I heard Ayumi calling for me and stopped to let her catch up to me. When she realized I stopped, she slowed her running to a jog and paused to catch her breath.
"Lucyyyyyyyyyyy you made me pay for the whole meaaaaal" she whined childishly. She straightened herself out and opened her mouth to probably apologize when I interrupted her.
"I had no reason to be angry with you", I told her, "it's my fault really.
"Nah, it is a pretty crazy ordeal. it's alright ," Ayumi said, flashing me a lopsided grin and I could feel the corner of my lips turn up in response.
We continued walking as I replied, "Well, I guess your plan makes the most sense. We could go somewhere to lure them out."
"Yes! I know the perfect place!" Ayumi said, as she skipped in front of me. She led us out of the city and into some open grass. We had just a worker into a comfortable silence when Ayumi spoke up.
"I've been here before," Ayumi said, breaking the silence, "After I was kicked out, I did a bit of travelling and stumbled across this place. There's a cottage there that we could stay in, I know the people who run the place"
"Perfect. But we have to go somewhere far from the cottage. I don't want whoever is stalking us to bother them" I said.
"Sure sure" was her reply as we walked in silence again. Ayumi stopped skipping and was walking with Diana on her head, and Happy was floating not too far behind.
Then, we heard a twig snap. Instantly we all turned around. But there was nothing there. We all exchanged glances, but continued on our way anyway. The sound came again, and this time we caught a shadow slipping into some trees to our right. Ayumi instantly followed, jumping over bushes as she gave pursuit.
"Ayumi!" I hissed. This wasn't part of the plan! The rest of us stayed put as we waited for Ayumi to come out. Seconds turned to minutes and I was starting to get worried. What was she doing?
Ayumi's P.O.V
I chased the shadow as I gracefully weaved through the trees. Every time it seemed within my reach, it would pick up speed and dash farther ahead of me. Frustrated, I let out a growl and leaped onto the figure when it was close enough. The figure let out a gasp in shock, and we both tumbled onto the grassy floor. I pinned it down effortlessly and ripped off its hood. Pale blue eyes stared up at me with horror.
"P-p-please d-don't h-hurt m-me", he stuttered out, and flinched when I lifted my hand up to push back my bangs from my eyes. I frowned at this, but my grip on his forearm remained.
"Who are you? Why were you following us?" I demanded.
His eyes darted to me before quickly averting his gaze. "I-I...uh." I squeezed his arm tightly, and he let out a yelp.
"Answer me right now, or you'll regret it!", I shouted at him, because honestly I was getting fed up.
His eyes filled with tears and he started shaking. I felt a pang in my heart, because he reminded me of this little girl I met some years back, who would flinch at the slightest touch and cover her eyes at anything louder than a whisper. Never got to figure out what left her like that, but it couldn't have been pretty.
I slid off of him and took the time to get a better look at him. He was small and scrawny and looked about my age, but he could have been younger. His blond hair was dirty and matted, slicked with sweat and what looked like blood. His breaths were coming in fast and ragged and he had his head in his hands. He watched me warily from the corner of his eye as I stood up and took a better look at where we were. I definitely didn't recognize where we were.
I schooled my expression, hoping I didn't look too threatening, and squatted down in front of him. I smiled gently and made sure my voice was soothing before I asked him, "What's your name? Mines Ayumi, but you probably already know that".
His breathing started getting more normal and he sniffed before speaking in a hushed voice, "M-mason."
I smiled brightly. "How old are you Mason?"
Mason wiped his eyes with his sleeve before replying in the same small voice, "uh..14".
So younger than me. I gave him another smile and looked up when I heard Lucy calling my name. Oops. She's probably worried about me.
"Over here Lucy!" I shouted at her, and watched as Mason looked at me in terror when he realized I was calling out to more people. He scrambled to his feet and tried to make a dash for it , but I managed to grab his forearm. He struggled to get out of my grip, but I had a strong hold and he didn't have much energy on him.
"Quit it!," I hissed at him, and with a whimper, he stayed limp. I didn't have time to worry about him when Lucy came crashing into the scene, Happy and Diana not too far behind.
"Ayumi!" Lucy called out to me and rushed towards me, but paused when she saw Mason. She tilted her head in confusion and looked at me, but I just shrugged.
"Don't you dare run off like that again, you idiot!" She scolded me, but there was no real heat behind it. I shot her a sheepish smile and looked back at Mason. My stomach flipped and I had a distant feeling that this was going to be a long day.
Damn I feel like this was a lot longer than my other chapters lol. I feel like my writings improved a lot but I can't really tell tbh. Comment what you guys feel and this time I promise next chapter will be up by at least next week !
