***Tuesday, 16th of Fall. The day the Stardew Valley Fair was set to arrive to the town square.
I still had a lot to do before the show. Sitting by the kitchen counter I ran the long list of tasks through my head as I carefully unwrapped the old bandages off the old wound. The constant babble coming from the TV was distracting, but I could only make out half of the words spoken.
"Today seems to bring us bright and sunny weather, perfect for the Stardew Valley Fair! The event will be-" The man prattled on, until the TV suddenly shut off with a small zap.
"Yeah, yeah, mhm. It always is." Seb mumbled to himself, dropping the remote lazily onto the coffee table.
He lay on the couch with a new comic in his hands. Unlike Sam, I had learned that he really enjoyed reading, even if it was only in form of comic books. It was rather amusing how every now and then he would peek over the thing to look at me. I, of course, pretended not to notice any of this.
Once the sore area was thoroughly cleaned, I wrapped my torso with new bandages. This always took a few tries because it was ridiculously easy to make it too tight. Once I was done Seb lowered his book and blatantly gazed at me.
"What?"
"You're so cute." He grinned.
I still hadn't quite gotten used to these kinds of acts of affection and didn't know how to react. I just lowered my shirt and placed the supplies away annoyedly grumbling. This only seemed to amuse him.
Oh, but how could I ever get used to that smile.
He helped me finish off the kitchen and he fed the chickens while I watered all the crops. I had slowly begun to get back on my feet on the farm again. The little chickens had returned home, and the field had begun to grow once more.
I had been planning an area for a new barn once I managed to save enough gold for it. But unfortunately, Sebastian had clearly gotten the task of keeping me useless to the heart and would barely let me do anything physical that could somehow overwork me.
And so, things were admittedly moving slowly. But it moved in a better direction still. The rest, that I had so keenly been avoiding, felt like breathing with Sebastian. The first thing he did was to make me read all his favorite comics so he could have someone to yap about them to.
And the books were surprisingly good. He stayed at the cottage more often than he did at home and I did not find any reasons to complain.
Fall arrived faster than I could expect. The leaves in the trees had begun to change their shades to gold and brown. It would be a task in itself to get rid of them once they fell out onto the field, I thought.
But I was happy that the air hadn't turned too cold yet. There were still a few weeks left of t-shirts and light jackets. Still, Sebastian made sure to tie his warm scarf around my neck. When I complained about the temperature, he explained that it was for the wind and that I shouldn't get sick while I was still healing.
"There's supposed to be outside people there. Isn't it funny?" I waffled on around noon as we made our way past the bus stop.
Sebastian chuckled and subtly wrapped his arm around me. "Lily, we don't live in a cage! It does sometimes feel like it, but I can take you to Zuzu City any time you'd like."
"Ooh, we should go! Someday. We could make a proper trip out of it and everything."
Soon the town center opened before us, and we were greeted with a nearly unrecognizable sight. Around the area there were dozens of little tents set with all kinds of minigames and prices. The whole square was absolutely packed with tourists.
