The following morning was quiet when indigo eyes opened blearily. Fuck, he hadn't slept that well in forever. Hitoshi turned to gaze at the woman beside him, still sleeping peacefully. Her blanket must've fallen sometime during the night because it was currently draped over the footrest. He couldn't help but smile, adjusting himself to grab her blanket and carefully drape it over her sleeping form.
She nuzzled further into the theatre chair with a hum of contentment, and the sound brought a smile to his face. She looked so peaceful whenever she slept, at ease and calm.
It was nice to see her like this.
She almost didn't look real, if it hadn't been for the soft puffs of breath that parted her lips and her shoulders' gentle rise and fall. He would've thought she was nothing more than a doll.
Long dark lashes fanned across freckled cheeks and rosy lips. Fuck, she was beautiful.
   Absolutely beautiful.
He stood from the theatre chair, careful not to make a sound before he left the room. He soundlessly closed the door behind him, she needed the extra sleep. Hitoshi knew she'd come to find him whenever she woke up.
The tired male stretched with a yawn as he made his way into the food court where Kaito and Denki were tossing rolled-up napkins at each other while they laughed. "Mornin'," Hitoshi greeted, catching their attention and the teenager grinned.
"Mornin'!" He said cheerfully before he crooked his head, looking past the tired male in confusion. "Where's Anna?"
"Still sleeping," the tired male chuckled. "She needs the extra sleep so let her sleep in. She'll wake up on her own sooner or later. How'd you guys sleep?" He asked as he took a seat at the table with the pair before he looked around curiously. "Where's Hika?"
The blond laughed. "Patrols," he replied fondly, gesturing above their heads. "He's on the roof. He does it every morning, afternoon, and night before he turns in." Denki explained with a shrug. "Dude never takes a break, I swear."
The tired male snorted. "Neither does she," he laughed, thrusting his head in the direction he'd come from. "Woman needs a break for once, but then again, when you're stuck on your own for months. You usually build up a vigilance when it comes to just relaxing and taking a break. This is gonna be good for her."
"You talked to her?" Kaito asked eagerly, and the tired male laughed, ruffling messy brown hair with a nod.
"Yeah, kid," he fondly replied, meeting expectant amber eyes. "We'll stay, but she wants us to pack a truck just in case we gotta run in a hurry."
The blond hummed, thinking it over for a moment. "That's fair."
"You guys got a truck in the garage we could use as our fail-safe? I was thinking of a two-door with a covered bed."
Denki thought it over before he hummed. "Yeah, there should be one on the upper floors of the garage, but Hika would need to bring it down first. We don't usually go to the upper floors unless we have to."
The tired male hummed. "Safety first," he muttered knowingly, and the blond bobbed his head.
"I'm usually never in the garage unless I have to be, like yesterday."
Hitoshi tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"Usually the proximity alert goes off when it's just walkers in the garage, but a different alarm will go off if it senses people who are still alive. I came down to help since Kai can't run."
"You guys were alerted that Anna and I were there?" The blond nodded.
"Yeah, it's really loud and it's different from the proximity alert. The proximity alarm went off first so Hika was already on his way to the garage when the Live Shock went off."
"Live Shock?" Hitoshi repeated in confusion, and the blond snorted.
"That's what we call the alarm that goes off when people are still alive," he explained with a shrug, ducking the crumpled napkin that flew across the table. "When Hika comes back, I'll tell him to bring the truck down to the main garage so you guys can load it up."
"G'mornin'," the trio turned to the voice to find the woman rubbing her eyes with a yawn. The tired male's gaze softened. Fuck, she looks so cute like this.
"Mornin, sweetheart," he greeted fondly, allowing her to approach and rest her head against his bicep. "Still tired?"
"Exhausted," she mumbled, meeting his gaze after a moment. "Why didn't you wake me?"
He chuckled. "Figured you needed the extra sleep."
Her gaze softened. "Thank you," she whispered, and he mimicked her smile, ruffling her messy curls.
"Morning, Anna!" Kaito said happily, and she met the teenager's gaze.
"Good morning," her voice was soft when she spoke, still full of sleep, and it melted Hitoshi's heart.
   Fuck, she was so cute.
Her gaze fell on the blond after a moment. "Good morning," she added, and the blond's gaze softened.
"Afternoon, Sunshine," he replied fondly. "You guys hungry? I was just about to start making lunch."
She tilted her head. "Afternoon?" She repeated in confusion, and Denki snorted.
"It's like 1 p.m." He replied, and she flinched. "It's fine. You don't really have to worry about bad shit unless the alarms go off."
She bobbed her head slowly. "Fair enough," she mumbled. "I'm starving."
The blond grinned, standing from his seat. "I'll get a head start on lunch then," he fondly said, offering them a salute before he turned on his heel and walked away.
"I'm gonna go play some video games in the arcade," Kaito announced before he took off, and the pair shared a confused glance.
"There's an arcade?" She repeated, and he shrugged.
"Mall's got an indoor pool. To be honest, I'm not surprised this place has an arcade."
Her giggle was quiet. "Fair enough."
"How'd you sleep?" He asked, and she stretched her arms over her head with a grunt of effort.
"It was wonderful," she mused, meeting his gaze. "Those chairs truly are comfortable. No pillows necessary."
He chuckled, ruffling her curls. "They really are," he commented. "I'm surprised you slept for so long. I thought for sure that you'd be awake before me."
She offered him a sheepish smile. "I truly needed the extra sleep. Thank you."
He grinned. "Any time," he fondly replied. "C'mon. Denki's gonna tell Hikaru to bring down a truck so we can load it up just in case."
Her gaze softened. "Thank you," she uttered.
