Elles P.O.V

I pushed open the door to Tyler’s apartment to find him yelling at the TV. It's a miracle. I mean the one time I actually think that when I walk into his messy apartment I will find a normal teenage guy. But no according to this a normal teenage guy is not what you really think. I actually thought for once he wouldn’t be playing one of those crappy games as usual but he is. I shouldn’t be surprised to be perfectly honest. I mean this is what it’s always like when I come to see him. I take a seat on his bed and shoot him a smile when he glances at me before turning back to his game. I sigh quietly. He doesn’t look nor say anything he just holds up his second finger to indicate he'll only be a minute. Yeah right. I mean it's normally ten to fifteen minutes at least. Guess what I was wrong. Well this was a first. Well that shows how much I know about him. Before I go on maybe I should tell you who Tyler really is.

Tyler is my best?...boy?...friend. He is my boyfriend to put it straight but sometimes I feel differently about our relationship. I mean we have been best friends for what? Since before preschool and I was sorta used to the whole best friend stuff that we used to do and now we were a couple and it felt kinda different. It all happened one day when we were in year eleven. We were walking home together just like every day and then suddenly he took my hand and pulled me behind a bush. I was confused. I looked at him in the eyes and he opened his mouth to speak. I had never seen him so nervous. I mean I was his best friend and we could tell each other anything. What could have been so bad? I got kinda worried. “I um well have something to ask you” he said shyly. “Well yeah I kinds see that, come on just tell me” I told him. “I’ve liked you for a while now…”. I cut off the rest of his sentence. “Wait as in like wanna go out like?” I asked confused. “Well yeah, Will you go out with me Elle?” I stood there with a look on my face I had never shown before. I didn’t know what to say. I mean the entire girls in this school would die to be me. Tyler Crawford was the sexiest gut in our entire student body and all the girls fell for him. Yes I liked him a lot to be honest and I had since I met him but it was the fact that we had been friends for so long and I didn’t want to lose what we had already. “Let me think about it” I said as so many things passed through my mind. I did not see that coming. Anyway long story short I left it for two days and I could see he was getting impatient so one day when we were sitting at my house I told him my answer. “Okay I have come to a decision and yes I want to go out with you” I said as a smile flashed across his pale face. I had my doubts but I thought I would give it a go. So yes that’s pretty much the story of how we came to be. Anyway back to before.

“Hey sexy pie” he said as he pulled me onto his lap. I rested my head against his warm chest and could feel the thump of his heart beating slowly. “Hey baby” I reply. At first it felt weird when we started going out because we had been best friends for so long and we were used to all the things that friends used to do if you know what I mean but then after a while I got used to it and we fell totally in love with each other. We couldn’t last a day without seeing each other and every Friday night we would spend at my place watching a chick flick curled up on the couch under a blanket. I got used to having his company but in a different way than just being friends. I got used to all the romantic stuff and I never wanted to say goodbye when he had to leave me all alone every night. I was totally in love with him. Well at least that’s how it seemed.

“Pick you up at 8 tomorrow morning” I call as I blow Tyler a kiss. “Thanks babe, night love you” he replies. “Love you more” I say before I hit the road and head home. I order some McDonalds on the way home because knowing Mum, Dad, Jackson and Shakira they are all cleaned up and everything by 7.302 and its 9 now so yeah I think I better pick something up on the way home I think.

I walk in the door and I am bombarded by Buddy our golden Labrador. “Hey beautiful” I say as I scratch the top of her head. She licks my face and I give her a quick pat on the back before heading towards the lounge. She follows of course. “Hey im home” I call as I walk into the lounge. Its just mum and dad. Neither of them respond so I shrug my shoulders and think that maybe they just didn’t hear me over the TV. I stand there looking like a complete idiot. “Oh so am I talking to myself now” I ask sarcastically. No one even flinches. They both just sit there in absolute silence their eyes glued to the TV screen. “What’s wrong with…” I cut off the rest of the sentence when I realise why they are ignoring me. It was this morning and im telling you right now you would not want to have been in the middle of this. “I told you that you are grounded for a month Elle” mum shouted at me. “Whatever like I care, im still going to Tylers and no one will stop me” I called back. “There we go that’s two months, wind me up some more and we can make it three” she yelled as she slammed her door. I hated her guts right now. I mean she was so disrespectful. Seriously all I did was get an achieved in my maths test and she grounds me? I mean im not like Shakira and getting an Excellence in all subjects. Who did she think she was? Doesn’t she remember how hard school was? It sure seems like she doesn’t.

I jumped into my onesie and scrubbed my face with my facial wash then moisturised it. Followed by cleaning my teeth and getting into bed. I pulled the covers over my body and lay there and thought. Thought about how hard life was having parents that were so strict on grades and all that other crap. I mean I cared but at least I achieved right? I gently closed my eyes and then realised that I needed all the sleep I could get after all the shit that’s happened the last few days. My head was literally about to explode. I seriously hated mum. I mean who did she think she was! The Queen? No way in hell. She was far from it. She was my mum and that’s how it would stay no matter how she acted or what she did. She was my mum and that’s where it stopped.

“Elle get downstairs right this minute” mum called from the bottom of the stairs. Shit I thought. What had I done this time? I quickly hit the pause button on my Ipod dock and run down to the lounge. “Yes” I say as I stand in the doorway. Mum and Dad are both sitting on the couch just staring at me. Well seriously this cant be good. “Elle we have just received your report” she tells me. “Argh just tell me it’s bad, it always is” I blurt out. Mum stares at dad and he nods his head. Seriously why are they always so secretive? “You got E’s for everything Elle…E’s for everything” she repeats. My jaw drops and she stares at me with that look on her face. That look she gives me when she’s disappointed. That’s the look I get at least once a day. Then I think again. Wait hang on doesn’t E mean excellent? “Mum your joking me, E means excellent doesn’t it?” I question unsure. Mum laughs and dad smiles at me. “We tried, Yes E is excellent and we are so proud of you hun” she tells me and she walks over and opens her arms for a hug. Hun? A hug? Woah is she on like happy pills or something cause im telling you we haven’t done hugs for at least 6 months. Or maybe those six months I was just acting like a bitch of a daughter. She pulls me into a soft hug and I finally can say after so long that I love my mum.
