[An Isolated Church Within Sorbet Kingdom...]

"BONNEY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" A chorus of screams echoed around the cramped church, with small balloons, ribbons and confetti everywhere. What more could a child want? And all of her carers were there too, and they wore happy, smiling expressions, dancing about with excitement. It wasn't every day that a girl was nine years old and they wanted to commemorate the occasion with a bang. With all the time that she spent cooped up inside, away from sunlight, away from friends, away from her father, it was the least they could do...

Bonney's face lit up with joy as she awoke that morning, with a wide grin from ear to ear. And they had prepared for her a massive feast, knowing how much of an appetite she had, and there was all sorts of food prepared for her. None of it lasted all that long granted, and it disappeared from sight with little outside help needed, vanishing within the small girl somewhere. It was like her stomach was some unquenchable hole that could simply never be satisfied.

And, for a time, the stresses of the world faded away, replaced with merrymaking, fun and laughter. They enjoyed every second of it, but partying was a tiresome affair, and the adults couldn't withstand such excitement for too much longer. Many collapsed and fell asleep upon the church floor, filled up from the copious amounts of food that had been prepared. The heavy snores drowned out any other noise, which made it the perfect opportunity for deft feet to creep around...

The small girl tiptoed around the bodies, and pulled the same stool she always used up against the wall, letting her peer into the postbox. Every sudden movement she made forced her to check that she hadn't awoken any of her guardians. The rusty metal didn't help her all that much. Bonney had enjoyed the fun and games but what she had actually been waiting for was to check for a letter, a letter from a very specific person.

And yet, as her small palm smacked the back of the box, she returned empty-handed, not a single letter at all. "Nope..." Bonney whispered to herself. "No letters." Her attempts at putting up a confident face quickly faltered, her smile shattering into little pieces, and tears began rolling down her cheeks. Sat down upon the stool, she let out a quiet sniffle. "Don't you know I'm nine now, Daddy?" Her voice broke as she tried to talk and the dam broke, a heavy downpour of tears trickled out...

"You said you'd write me letters..."

[A Week Later, Only A Few Hours Away From The Sorbet Kingdom...]

The journey from Koka Island was an arduous one, especially for the three who had never stepped foot atop a boat before, never mind sailing upon one for a week straight. It took them a little while to adjust to the ships rocking, the rolling waves, the bottomless pit that surrounded them. They didn't take too long however, adjusting quickly to life out at sea. After the attack from the giant Sea Beast their moods quickly improved, aided by the uniquely liberating feeling that entailed leaving home behind and heading out into the enormous unexplored world. They had a youthful exuberance to them, a feeling that they could take on the world. The swordsman, only a few years their senior, could only shake his head and watch their naivety. They hadn't grown up with a privileged life for certain, but there were certain privileges that came with being isolated from the world...
