poem #12: i can be

i can't be that girl,
the one who's meant for you,
yeah, it made me cry,
but now it's just alright.

i can't be your ride or die,
but i can be someone's light,
the one you left and threw away,
someone will take me away.

i can't be your all or nothing,
but i can be someone's everything,
i can't be your love,
but i can be my love.

i can't be your forever,
but then i look at the mirror,
oh, who is that girl?
too precious to be yours.

i can't be your muse,
though i used to be your artist,
but i can be someone's muse,
and their cherished artist as well.

i know there's someone could be,
the things for me that you can't be,
you found someone better,
because i can't make you someone who you couldn't be.
