I'm standing at the top of the steps in front of the door waiting. Then I see Taylor riding up on her long board. "Hey!" She runs up the stairs. "Hey! Let's go inside." I open the door. I take Taylor around the school showing her all of her classrooms, the bathrooms, the gym and the nurses office. "Thanks for showing me around, friend." Taylor punches me in the shoulder. "No prob." I tell her. The bell rings. " there's first period bell. What's you're first class?" I look at her schedule. "Math." Taylor speaks. "Ew gross that's Mr. McLain! He's like really old!" I announce. Taylor looks disgusted. "Great!" " I'll walk you there if you want?" I ask. She sighs in relief. "Thank you!" On our way to Taylor's class we see a nerdy girl getting called mean names. We watch from a distance. "That poor girl." I whisper. Taylor looks concerned. "Should we go tell those jerks to back off?" I look at her and nod. We walk up to the bullies. "Hey back off guys." I say. The big fat leader of the group looks at me. "What are you gonna do about it?" "Just leave her alone." Taylor half shouts. The bully takes a step closer. "You can't tell me what to do." I get mad. I get angry. You know what, forget that, I get FURIOUS! I take a step closer and stare him in the eyes. He raises an eyebrow. "Oh no! What are you gonna do? Stare at me 'til I break down in tears running out the front door?" I lift my fist and...

20 minutes later. "So you're telling me that I should've just left that girl to be verbally abused by those idiots?" I shout. Principal Hackett tightens his tie and glares at me. "No. I am saying that you should not have given him two black eyes and a busted lip!" I look at him. " I-I'm, sorry." Principal Hackett sighs in disappointment. He hands me a month long detention slip. "I have ran out of things to do so you will learn your lesson and stop getting involved in fights." I put the slip in my back pack. " I was just trying to he--" Taylor busts through the doors to the principals office. "Baeley wasn't alone! I was with her." Principal Hackett looked at me. "Is this true Baeley?" I look at Taylor. She gives me a serious look. I look back at principal Hackett. "Yes." Principal Hackett hands Taylor a copy of the detention slip that he gave me. She smiled at me. After Principal Hackett dismisses us from his office, I give Taylor a weird look. "Why did you lie to him?" She grins "I didn't. All I said was I was with you I never said that I hurt him." I smile. "But why would you say that when you didn't have to?" "Isn't that was friends are supposed to do?" Taylor asks. I laugh.
