Lost At Sea

Chapter 8

Kathleen's POV:

We walk out of our room and find workers chatting. "Excuse me!" I say loudly and they turn to look at us. "Do you need something?" One of them asks. "Yes, one of friends fell overboard earlier on the top deck when it was storming really bad. And then a wave pushed her away from the boat." I quickly say. "Well why didn't you tell us sooner!?" One shouts. "Please come with us." Another one says calmly.

We follow them all the way to the front of the boat where the wheel is. "Captain?" A worker knocks on the door. "Come in. Come in." We hear him say. "Captain, some guests need a favor."
"A favor? Well come in and sit down." We do as he says and he smiles at us. It takes a while for the captain to finally remember that we had to tell him something. "Now what did you need to tell me?" He asks gently. "Well, during the storm one of our friends was by the railing and when the wave hit, she fell overboard, and then another wave pushed her away from the boat. So we would like to ask if you could start a search for her." I ask. "Fell overboard!? Why didn't you tell someone earlier? That huge wave was about an hour ago!" He says. "We couldn't because someone told us to go back to our rooms and we were also in shock of what happened. So we needed to cool down a bit." Ally says for me. "Ah, I see. Well I'll start a search now and then a more thorough search in the morning. So please, do not worry and get some sleep tonight." The captain says softly.

We thank the captain and leave to our rooms. "Well at least they made it back safely." Jay says as soon as we walk into our room. "It took you guys long enough. It's been 45 minutes." CJ says yawning. "Yea well, let's just say the captain was friendly so it was hard to get to the point." Ally laughs. "I'm surprised you guys didn't go to bed!" I say smirking. "Coby did. But, someone was worried that someone would get lost." Todd says looking between me and CJ. "You still think that I would get lost!? Well whatever. It's already 11, so go back to your room so we can go to sleep." I say pointing to the door. "Alright, alright fine. I'm sure Coby's feeling lonely anyway." Jay laughs.

After the boys leave me and Ally get ready to sleep. "You think Rachel's okay?" Ally asks once were in our beds. I pause then smile, "Of course she's okay. I mean, she's Rachel right? I'm sure she's just fine." I try to convince Ally along with myself. "Now get some sleep. We'll see if they found Rachel tomorrow morning ok?"
"Ok." I hear Ally say in a soft voice. I stay awake for a bit longer thinking about Rachel hoping she's ok. "You're still ok. Right Rachel?" I say softly to myself. I look at the clock. 2:43 am. "I really need to get some sleep." I say rolling on my side and sleep finally takes over.

"Kathleen? Helloooo?" I could feel someone poking my cheek. "Hey come on, get up already!" I roll over to my other side. "Alright fine then, I guess we have to do this the hard way."
"Whoa!" I scream. I open my eyes and see I'm on the floor. "Ow." I stand up and rub my eyes. "What was that for!?" I well at Ally who's laughing. "Well I had to get you up! It's already 9!" Ally laughs harder. "You never sleep in that late!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." I roll my eyes and get dressed. Once I'm ready we walk out on the deck and see the boys eating breakfast. "Wow, you guys took your time." Jay laughs. "Well it took me awhile to wake someone up." Ally orders her breakfast and sits down next to Jay. I order my breakfast and sit next to CJ. "How long were you awake for?" CJ looks at me. "We went to sleep after you guys left."
"When did you really go to sleep?" CJ smirks. "2:40" I sigh. "So that why you slept in so late." CJ laughs. "Is Todd ok?" I ask looking over at Todd who's sitting alone at a table. "He's just worried about Rachel. He's also still blaming himself." Coby whispers. I nod and continue eating. "Ok, come on Ally." I stand up. "Where are you guys going?" Coby asks. "To see if the captain found Rachel." I reply while waiting for Ally. "I'm coming. I'm coming." Ally runs up next to me.

"Umm, excuse me?" I say knocking on the captains door. "Who is it?" He says in his friendly voice. "Kathleen and Ally. From yesterday."
"Oh! Yes, come in, come in." He says and I open the door. "I'm assuming you came to know about your friend?" We nod. "Yes well.... Why don't you sit down?" We sit down on the sofa and a worker gives us tea. "Did I ever tell you my name? I don't think I did." The captain asks and I shake my head. "Well, instead of captain, you can call me Jim."
"It's nice to meet you, captain Jim." I say and we shake hands with him. "I'm Kathleen and this is Ally. Although I think you already knew that." He nods. "Now well, about your friend....."
"Yes?" I say and Ally looks at him worriedly. "Well we.... Haven't found her yet...." Jim starts and Ally looks down at the ground. "But I'll send more life boats out. I'm sure we'll find her now that it's morning." Ally stands up and leaves. "Thank you." I stand following after Ally.

"Ally! Ally wait!" I shout after Ally who's running down the hall. "Ally!" I grab her arm and she turns toward me. "They couldn't find Rachel, Kathleen! They couldn't find her! What if she's gone forever!" Ally cries. "They'll find her. I promise. Besides its probably because it was dark when they first searched. Now that it's light out they'll definitely find her!" I hug Ally. "How about we go to the water slides? You like water slides don't you?" I force a cheerful smile. "Yay! The water slides!" Ally wipes her tears and sadly smiles.
